I don't think the people who responded actually got this joke.

Anyway, I would much rather they let Julie "The Cat" Gaffney play, but they don't let women on the team.

Haha I figured it was a Might Ducks reference last night, but I don't have that big of an idea about our team period to confirm/deny the coincidence.

However, Beaz did go to my middle and high school.

From what I know, Keller will be in goal. And it's 1-0 Ecuador at the half.

Ecuador has one helluva defense. I'm rooting for them a bit. Everyone keeps talking about the elevation differences and how they play at 9,000 ft above sea level. Well, Poland plays right there next to Germany and Ecuador still spanked them.

I look forward to the England/Paraguay match (As does Dep) and especially the Argentina/Ivory Coast match. That will be a big match in Group C and should set the tone. I really want to see what CIV is really made of.

I was at work during the day and had the VCR going. Luckily in here in the good ole' US of A, it's not much of a problem to avoid soccer scores.

So, I just got done with the day one matches and I thought they were extremely entertaining. I couldn't believe the first 20 minutes of the Germany match and Ecuador looked a lot stronger than I thought they would. It was so depressing watching the Poles in the stands after Ecuador went up 2-0.

Highest scoring opening game in WC history! Great way to start. Anyone who is blah on soccer (not haters, because they are too f'ing stubborn to ever change) and had a chance to watch the Ger/CR match today, and see the awesome goals Germany scored and how Los Ticos fought back, should at least want to watch some more as the WC continues.

I know a ton of people are probably geared up for England starting off tomorrow, and their always great to watch, but the Argentina/Ivory Coast match tomorrow is the one I think will be very exciting.

Also, since this is soxtalk, what a kickass comeback by our Sox tonight over those bloody injuns.

Today was awesome (especially with Comcast adding ESPN2HD just in time, Soccer in HD is the goods) Can't wait til Monday, Italy's first match and US/Czech should be very entertaining. Looking forward to watching my Italians, but hate all these injuries that keep popping up. Totti is supposed to play even though he's not 100%, but now Gattuso got hurt, he's one of my favorite players

Has anyone heard this bizarre story about Togo? Haven't looked for a link but saw it on Fox Soccer Channel. Appareantly the team has decided to go on strike right at the start of the World Cup! They say if their pay increase demands aren't met that they won't play, crazy

Holy schnikes! Didn't know he signed with Chelsea. Ballack, I knew about. WOW! They might as well just sign every great striker in the world. What are they going to do with Shevchenko, Crespo, Drogba, and Gudjohnson? Might as well run a 4-2-4.

I heard Crespo might go back to Milan (he said he and his family like Italy), but I guess the whole scandal is making everything a little iffy

England and Paraguay to kick off soon, while Sweden takes on Trinidad and Tobago. Paraguay could suprise some people tonight, Roque Santa Cruz is an excellent striker, I give them quite a chance of snatching a draw.

England was very unimpressive and got lucky on the own goal. Their defense looked ok though. Crouch is so damn scrawny btw. Jeez, eat once in a while.

Sweden/T&T start now. Can't wait to see Larsson/Ibrahimovic work together.

That was a hell of a game on the whole. T&T got a BS 2nd yellow to Avery John (that was questionable to call it even a foul in my mind). Hislop was amazing in goal. Great scene to see them excited with a tie. Heck of a World Cup debut for T&T, give a little more respect to the CONCACAF region.

Argentina looking really REALLY good. Should be 3-0 but 2-0 ARG at the half.

Drogba scores in the 82nd minute to make it 2-1 but CIV just couldnt put it together. Boy, a draw in this match would have been awesome for SCG.

Ivory Coast should have had a penalty kick around the 70 minute mark.

Poland is probably toast, unless they plan on beating Germany on their soil. Doubtful.

Poland-Germany could be a hell of a game. Poland borders Germany, and I don't think there will be a major crowd advantage for the hosts, not to mention that there is no love lost between those two nations. The Poles need to show a lot more life than they did against Ecuador (shouldnt be a problem as they're on the verge of elimination), especially on set pieces where they were just brutal. This is one of the first round matches that I am looking forward to the most.

People seem to be cutting Iran short against Mexico. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Iran draws or wins. Portugal should be able to beat Angola. Serbia would be sitting pretty with a win against Holland tommorrow but the same can be said for any team tommorrow. Can't wait for 7:55 AM tommorrow!
