Did anyone really think we had a chance tonight? A crappy lefty, who has gotten rocked by every other team he has faced, and the sox have never seen before. It was over before the game even started.

I don't think i've ever seen a team that gets shut down by such crappy pitching...maybe it's time for a change and i'm not talkin the lineup

Can't speak for anyone else, but I sure don't wake up every morning and say "Hey... the Sox are going to lose today, waa hooo!!!"

If you do, you don't belong here.

Tonight...

Sweeney is batting leadoff in CF

Pods batting 8th in LF

Per the Score 670 update.

Sweet mother of god. The man child is in the right position. I hope he has a great game, the more great games from Sweeney, the sooner to the end of the Prancer regime in LF.

Thanks for the dong in game 2 pods, have a nice rest of your life boinking a playboy playmate. Thats a nice consolation prize.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere around here, and I don't know what happened to the threads with all the salaries, but JD's option for 2007 is now 6.5 million instead of 6.

He got a 250K raise for winning the WS MVP (How did they know to put that clause in) and another 250K raise for getting 1000 PA's over the two years the contract was signed for.

Garland made the espn's mlb front page tonight:

White Sox Show Ace

Chicago thought it had assembled the best starting staff in the league this offseason, but on June 8 Jon Garland was 3-2 with a 6.20 ERA. With Saturday night's 10-8 win over the Indians, the Sox starter has put together a 14-2 run with a 2.76 ERA, and the Sox remain one-half game behind the Twins for the AL wild card. Story | Watch

I did not want to start a new thread on this, but my god, is Frank Thomas

a star or what????

The guy has had an amazing season.

KW was WRONG about Frank's healthy.

Congrats Frank. I hope we see you in the playoffs and you go 0-15 vs. us

but congrats nonethleless.

You are a monster.

Minus the steroids. Frank is clean!!!!

Should be interesting getting a look at Josh Fields. Is it just me or are the Sox calling up way more guys this year than usual? Stewart, Haeger, Logan, Sweeney, Fields, Owens and Tracey? I don't remember the Sox calling up 7 any other season in which they were halfway decent.

We've never really had that much AAAA talent before. For as maligned as the system is, we've got a lot of 'prospects' at the high minors.

With each passing home run and each day our decision to dump Big Hurt seems dumber and dumber.

I hope he doesn't put the nail in our coffin on this West Coast trip.

And yes I love Thome too.

But it's a shame he's not with the Sox considering he still has baseball left in him.

The guy is the A's MVP.

Not many people especially KW and Oz thought he could do this.

How so? Our offense is still one of the best in the league, and as far as I know, thats what he influenced the most. Or does his prescene suddenly make the pitching not suck?

I do agree that he's had an excellent year, and that it's amazing that he has done what he's done, but even today, I'd still do what KW did, and I'm a big fan of Frank.

Good point. I guess it's either Frank or Thome on this team and both have had good years.

It just seems Frank is carrying the A's and nobody is carrying us tho Dye has tried with his monster

MVP season.

Oakland has enough pitching that Frank is able to carry them. Their team ERA is 4.11, ours is 4.55. Their bullpen is putting up a 3.46. Their offense is only #20 in the big leagues overall, so if it looks like Frank is carrying that offense, it's in large part because no one else is producing much in the way of runs. They're winning games with pitching and enough offense. We're not getting pitching.

From Elias -

Bobby Jenks recorded his 40th save of the season in the White Sox's win over the Angels. Jenks, who was a rookie last year, is the third pitcher to notch at least 40 saves in either his first or second season in the major leagues. Kaz Sasaki had 45 saves in his sophomore year, 2001, and Chad Cordero had 47 saves last year, his second season.

Any statniks out there who can help me?

It seems like we have faced an extraordinary amount of lefthanders this season.

Does anybody have any stats on how many lefty starters we have faced

compared to righty?

I swear ... whenever I watch the Sox on TV poor ol Thome is battling some

lefty. Ditto A.J.

Bring on the righties!!!!

Well, now that actually is interesting. I don't have the "Starters-only" numbers, but I can tell you this...the White Sox have the most at bats against left-handed pitching in the big leagues. And it's really not even close.
