Manny's done a lot of good for the game of baseball, and is the most popular player in the game. If you don't like him, that's fine.

Please list the "good" things he's done for baseball. Not disagreeing. Just curious.

Probably Dye because Vlad was voted in. So to avoid any kind of minor controversy, it might end up being that way.

But if it were my choice, I'd put Dye in RF.

Well...we're both wrong.

Ozzie tabs Vernon Wells to start in CF. Vlad in LF and Ichiro in RF.

I was hoping one member of the 2005 World Series Champions would start.

Yes, a player is a tool for opting not to play in an exhibition game when he's been playing on a sore knee all season.

If anything, this should show Boston fans that Manny doesn't really care whether you vote for him or not.

He could start the game, take an at-bat, stand out in LF for one inning and go sit in the dugout for the rest of the game. But, no... Manny has other plans for the next few days. Probably car buying or sitting around watching DVDs.

Box score lazy ass.. :P

Someone I know recently has started filling out score cards at the game and then brings them to me, like I know WTF I'm doing. Is there somewhere on line that actually shows you a filled out score card like the one you get at the park?

Hey, I'm not the geek that scores the game instead of watching and enjoying it. I was just asked for help.

I'm with you there. Keeping score never held my interest. I will keep score for my geek friends when they need a bathroom break (southsider and wilkins - LMAO). But I don't keep score for me.

as far as strike outs, K is the stardard for looking, backwards k is strikeout looking. i know there are a few places online i have seen with scoring directions... i'll look for them. there a few standards, but otherwise it seems like everyone has their own way of filling out a score card

Manny may be a tool, but not because he wants to stay off his knee for 3 days when he has a chance.

I respectfully disagree.

several. obviously 1b 2b 3b hr 1-9 are all the same, but after that it is what works best for you

That's cool. But, for the record, here's my thinking. If say, Dye, had been playing on a sore knee and decided to opt out of the game, I believe most around here would be saying that it was a good decision. You'd hear a lot along the lines of 'He has the team's best interest in mind' and 'It's just an exhibition game and the pennant race is what matters'.

In fact, Thome opted out of the HR Derby to insure he didn't injure himself during it. So, you could say Thome also disregarded the fans that pay his salary, etc.

Someone has to keep tradition alive. I was honestly shocked to find out this year that I was one of three people on my softball team that could keep score (there is one guy older than me, and the rest are younger).

I think that's about as many as we have. I've been teaching one kid that really wants to learn, though.

How many people still know how to keep score bowling?
