I think he'd be the perfect third outfielder for this team.

But this has been argued so much I'm glad you put it in there cause

people got mad last time I suggested this.

I'd take him in left. And I've always been one of his lesser fans.

I agree with this, and I've been someone who's sick of hearing how much we miss him.

I loved how he played, but I felt his defense (or at least his range) was overrated. That and I always thought someone could strike him out if they just pitched him low and away. He was just never my favorite.

He was and will never be the best player in any team. But he had a contagious attitude that far outshined his athletic shortcomings. All that "Grinder Rule #--" crap doesn't apply anymore. The Sox of 2006 resemble more the Yankees of 1998, business-like, apathetic. There is no fire in this team as I could CLEARLY see last year. The HUNGER does not show in their play, and Rowand would not have put up with that.

You really think Big Hurt used roids?

I have a feeling he did not.

Why do you stain Hurt's name like that?

The general perception is if he had used roids, he'd probably be up there

in the Bonds-like zone of home runs.

Hurt is clean.

I was tempted to start a new thread with this but decided it is not worth it

being it's about The Cub.

Did you see the page 3 story in sports in usa today on Monday?

Wow ... Dusty getting death threats from Cub fans and letters that call

him the n word.

It really paints Cub fans in a bad light.

I'm sure any team's fan base has some sickos capable of this, but cmon.

If sports dominate your life so much you'd send the manager of the Cub

a letter calling him the n word and threatening him ... well you deserve a

cop come knocking on your door.

What ever happened to sports being a series of games to escape life's crap?

The Cub fan who sent Dusty that letter is a fricking idiot and deserves to

be arrested if he threatened Mr. Baker.

Mrs. Baker won't even let theiir 7 year old stay to watch the games cause

of people yelling cuss words at Dusty.

Amazing.

Your name makes me think of Chad Gaudin which is strange....:P

I never questioned the hustle or heart Aaron had. Some fans just have some players that they aren't as big of fans of. ARow was one of those players for me.

And it's the pitching. That's the entire difference from last year. We didn't lose anything from Rowand to Anderson on D this year, and the offense doesn't make a difference. We're not winning games that our pitching should. But everyone knows this.

4.04 - $9,500,000

4.73 - $7,000,000

4.80 - $8,000,000

4.87 - $9,000,000

5.13 - $12,000,000 (ugh)

And I'm pretty sure all of them are making more money next year.

Dude, they got paid. What do they care?

It's all Mark has to give.

One has to wonder if he just is worn out from last year or if this is gonna

be the Mark B of the future.

He done.

Cowley wrote today that it's a done deal that Garcia and Pods will be gone next year, maybe Uribe. Not a big surprise, but didn't know it was pretty much decided...thought they could keep Big Game and dump Head Case and that mgmt likes Pods more than people on this board.

One thing about next year...at least our guys won't have pitched a lot of October innings in 06, so there won't be any "Dead arm/too many innings" excuses.

Oh sure, it *looks* like alo of money, but, that kind of dough puts them in a really, really high tax bracket. Heck, they probably only walk away with 4-6 mil in clean, cold cash. Tom Cruise gets paid more to appear on Oprah for 30 minutes.
