credeisamazing
no he shouldn't be sent to charlotte because he's one of the best defensive players we've seen in CF. all he needs to do is start working with his bat a little bit more.
southsider2k5
Wow. 19-1 No so far... It warms my heart. Still I think there is something else going on here... Do we have the next D'Angelo Jimenez on our hands?
elrockinMT
Brian Anderson wasn't ready as a hitter for the big leagues last year or this year. He had one big game versus that kid in Seattle last year. Fielding is good, but his bat sucks like a toothpick.
Chisoxfn
Anderson wasn't ready as a hitter. Anyone that saw him up late last year and for a large part of spring new that. His mental set at the plate isn't condusive to a good AB. However, I think he will be able to learn and improve his mental approach at the major league level. At this point I have no problem keeping him up because I think the best way to learn that mental part would be at the major league level. Unless of course Walker can give him a few tips and send him down so he can relax and work on them (I'd like Walker to be on the phone with him trying to help out and give pointers even when he's in Charlotte). Than after those adjustments are made and he gets comfortable in AAA bring him back up. His defense is too good not to have, especially since with Mack as our starting CF, we will need a defensive replacement. However, if Ozzie doesn't plan on playing Brian (just like we fail to use Brandon) they both should be in AAA getting in a groove.
SSH2005
Some of the pitches Anderson swings at make me want to puke. I really hope that Anderson pans and that Chris Young doesn't turn into the next Eric Davis.
winninguglyin83
BA needs to play, regain his confidence, improve his control of the strike zone and generally develop. He's not going to do that with the Sox this year. If we were 6 ahead of the Tigers, maybe. But we don't have the big lead we had last year -- and I doubt that will change. So do the best thing for BA and the team and send him down.
Heads22
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 28, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Some of the pitches Anderson swings at make me want to puke. And yet he's still not the worst we have at the plate. Some of the pitches Uribe swings at make me want to disembowel myself and those immediately around me. greg775
Make him serve his five game suspension now instead of appealing it. During the week off ship him to extended spring training or wherever Thome spent that week in spring training figuring out his swing woes. Uribe should be seeing a lot more bench time than he currently is.
Heads22
True. I wish Brian would drop the appeal now while Rob is hot and is going to get the starts.
SSH2005
True. I wish Brian would drop the appeal now while Rob is hot and is going to get the starts. Would make a ton of sense. Anderson shouldn't be getting playing time right now other than facing lefties anyways with Mackowiak being really hot.
RME JICO
I wouldn't send him down yet. He still can be used as a defensive replacement. If Mack is hot, leave him in and use BA as a late innings defensive replacement. The problem right now is not the Sox hitting, it is still their pitching. In 13 of the 17 losses, the opponents have scored 5 or more. In 9 of those losses they scored 7 or more. Regardless how bad the team is hitting, they are not going to win many of those games when the opponents score that much.
Texsox
Hey! Look at Thome!! BA needs some AAA time to be ready for the pennant run.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
Much as I dont want him to have to do it I think maybe a brief stint down there would serve as a wake up call. His defense is good but he really is horrible at the dish.
Dick Allen
QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 28, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) True. I wish Brian would drop the appeal now while Rob is hot and is going to get the starts. I think the suspension is the very reason BA is supposedly a candidate for Charlotte. While he serves his suspension, the Sox will be a player short. They don't want to be a player short against Cleveland. The appeal is apparently going to be heard this week. If it is reduced to 3 games which he could take against Texas, the Sox would be short at least 1 or 2 games against Detroit.

sayitaintso
I thought last year that BA wouldn't be ready until 07, and as of right now, from the offensive standpoint, it's true. I would send him down to AAA just so he could get some confidence back. I would be thrilled for a possible Ryan Sweeney sighting, even though i think it is a pipe dream, for now at least. Greg The Bull Luzinski
Just curious if BA leads the league in runners LOB and runner left in scoring position?

AngelasDaddy0427
Send him to Great Falls... I want his autograph... Seriously I think we need to swap him out for another outfielder if we can... But no way in heck should we send him down for just a pitcher...
DBAHO
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Send him to Great Falls... I want his autograph... Seriously I think we need to swap him out for another outfielder if we can... But no way in heck should we send him down for just a pitcher... This is the conundrum KW has on his hands regarding this issue right now. Ryan Sweeney just came back from an injury and for all we know he could come up and do exactly what Anderson has done offensively so far this season. Jerry Owens has really struggled in AAA so far, and I don't want Mack or Pods to be our everyday CF. That's why I'd like to trade Ross Gload and a not top 10-15 prospect for an OF in an organisation that's in the minors, but could contribute at the major league level if they were given a chance. Or better yet, you could trade for Ryan Church.
The Ginger Kid
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 28, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) Some of the pitches Anderson swings at make me want to puke. I used to say the same thing about Crede and Rowand. They both hit at AAA but struggled. That's why I think Ozzie would settle for better at bats rather than just hits. He knows that if BA gets some good at bats then the hits will follow. With great guys/hitters like Konerko and Thome, I hope Brian is smart enough to pick their brains every chance he gets. I wonder if that's happening...
