Chisoxfn
List of Potential Draft and Follow Candidates By Randy Brace FutureSox.com The White Sox selected a few potential draft and follow candidates in the 2005 amateur draft. To be eligible as a draft and follow candidate the drafted player must be playing at a 2 year institution (junior college). The White Sox will follow the players' progress and depending on their liking will try and sign the candidate. The deadline to sign these candidates today and FutureSox.com will be working hard on finding if and who the Sox came to terms with from last years draft class...MORE We will update everyone when/if the Sox announce that they have came to terms with any of the candidates (they needed to do so by today). danman31
What about Yudelmis Hernandez? He joined Marrero and Jordan at Broward. He sounded really talented, but tore his meniscus his senior year.

Chisoxfn
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) So was anyone signed? Still waiting on the official announcment. Usually this comes relatively slowly just because its not a priority by the Sox or MLB. We should hear something tomorrow and I have an email in. danman31
I was checking out mlb.com's draft tracker. They have all the draft prospects sortable by name, school, position, and state. All the guys listed in this article were still on the draft tracker. I don't know if that means we haven't signed any of them or we have and they haven't updated the list yet. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Randar68
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 07:17 AM) The White Sox were definitely negotiating with Brian Flores but I've seen no confirmation one way or the other. Just noticed this from Baseball America's regional scouting report for the 2006 draft where they list Flores the #1 prospect in New Mexico: New Mexico Junior College, ranked No. 1 for five national juco polls in a row, offered the state's two best arms in Brian Flores, a quick-armed lefthander under control to the White Sox, and righthander Matt Speake. Scouts were reticent to talk about Flores, who was engaged in negotiations with the World Series champions and expecting a six-figure signing bonus. All three of his pitches grade out as average, with a fastball that hits 90 mph regularly, a good curveball and solid changeup. He threw one five-inning perfect game this season, needing just 48 pitches as NMJC won 11-0 for his school-record sixth shutout. As an update on Christian Marrero, he has signed with Clemson and the Sox will not sign him. Might be converted to pitcher at Clemson. Gene Honda Civic
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) So Flores didn't get signed? It appears that the Sox sat on their purse strings, letting Flores, Garcia, and La Framboise go back into the draft or off to 4-year schools. (and I'm not one who's known to criticize the front office for lack of expenditures.) If I was a betting man, I'd look for them to take a "reach" in the first round this year, signing somebody who will take less than slot money. Yeah, sounds about right. Hopefully that fits Tyler Colvin. He remains my favorite of the guys we've been rumored to pick.
Guest JimH
Note the BA article says "confirmed" signings. It might be wise to see what happens over the next few days. Contracts could be in place but physicals or other details may be preventing an announcement.

I note that Jim, but I emailed Brooks, Reifert, and all the beat writers pestering them this week. All they've told me was the two Broward kids.
