God Cabrera would look good in black and white. I've been on his bandwagon since last spring, and the thing just keeps picking up steam.

They are going to want a king's ransom....and I'm not sure we have the firepower to get it done.

I've been on his bandwagon since he was a top prospect in the Marlins org. Early on in '03. The guy is an absolute stud, he's well on his way to Albert Pujols like status especially with the new and improved OBP that he's featuring this year.

We don't have enough but just for fun I'd probably offer up our entire minor league system for him.

He doesn't have that kind of power, even if you were to get him out of Florida......

The guy he reminds me sooooo much of is a young Man Ram, right down to the occasional chubby build, lack of hustle, and bizarre streaks of horrid defense mixed with a few great plays. But man can they hit.

Miguel Cabrera is already getting bigger and the second he gets his fatass into the weight room he will be hitting 40 HRs per season.

He's getting bigger because of food and I don't know if he has the work ethic to get into the weight room....he's known to be a bit lazy. But the thing is with him is he could roll out of bed and have a .320/35/110 split, so if he ever does get a work ethic (or Jason Grimsley's number /obligatory), 45 or fitty large could be possible, especially once he gets out of Florida.

What the fatass comment wasn't enough for you? I do agree about the work ethic the f***er is a carbon copy of young Manny, he has the tools to be a much better defensive player than Manny could ever dream to be its a shame he'll probably end up weighing like 300 pounds if he stays in Miami. The second he hits free agency however, expect a Mannyesque contract, I'm sure that would be incentive enough for him to learn how to run a f***ing treadmill.

Would you offer Joe Crede and prospects for Miggy, if a deal could get done there?

It's such a tough decision, Crede is so f***ing great defensively (no matter what some believe) that it'd be tough to lose a glove like his but adding another 1.000 OPS to the lineup would make this one of the greatest batting orders in the history of baseball.

yes, yes I would

I have a feeling I'll be bumping this thread an awful lot this year, updated OPS leaders:

4.) Jim Thome DH 21 53 1.068 WHITE SOX

5.) Jason Giambi 1B 16 47 1.066 YANKEES

6.) Jason Bay OF 18 50 1.064 PIRATES

As much as I love Joe....it's really not a tough decision. :P Look at this effin lineup if you make that deal:

Pods

Gooch

Thome

Konerko

Dye

Cabrera

Pierzynski

Uribe/Cintron

Anderson

The only things keeping me from saying it's an easy decision are the monster drop off in defensive ability and Cabrera's s*** work ethic/attitude. Otherwise it's pretty damn easy.

I absolutely love Miggy but Joe is one guy that I just find to valuable to this team to replace because of what he does on both sides of the ball.

I don't worry about his attitude with Ozzie around, Oz could get Charles Manson to behave in his clubhouse. The defensive dropoff would be an issue though, but Cabrera's hitting would make up for the runs his defense might give up, easily. I mean, the dude in our park would be .325/40/100, and as much as I love Joe, his offense and defense combined can't overcome that in terms of value (especially since Miggy at 3rd isn't all that bad, his issue is when he was in the OF).
