SleepyWhiteSox
QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) K Keeping runs off the board is Mission:Impossible for our bullpen? Is that what we're doing?
BigSqwert
Looking at the Detroit bullpen and I must say I am jealous right now. So many guys with ERAs under 3. Do we have any? Edited June 2, 2006 by BigSqwert
Kalapse
Appearantly the bullpen isn't a problem, it's all Politte he's just making them look bad. SS and CF are the real problems. This bullpen needs to be repaired and sooner rather than later.
daa84
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) UGLY i hate to get on a guy who has pitched as well as contreras, but tonight is a perfect example of how we need to ride our SP throughout the year. We dont have a deep pen, plain and simple, so we need our starters to go at least 6 every night. obviuosly that won't happen every night, but this is what happens when you starters dont go deep.....your bullpen gets exposed alot more...and when its not deep and you cant get it to cotts/jenks you are gonna be in trouble. SoxFanForever
I think Jenks is our only semi-consistent pitcher and he isn't even pitching a ton lately.
Melissa1334
its too hard too win when u dont have a solid righty out of the bullpen. det:zumaya, 2.92 era cle:betancourt, 3.21 minn:rincon,2.00 sox: ??? we must be the only contending team w/out a solid righty setup man, cotts and matt have been ok. klaus kinski
Cotts and Politte are totally ineffective-who would have thought that these 2 are likely being replaced by Thurmond and Nelson
daa84
i hate to add even more insult, but juan cruz, who KW was interested in....tossed 7 innings shutout ball tonight
Dick Allen
Thome, Dye, and Konerko, even Crede and AJ can't be expected to keep up their current pace. Runs, especially if Anderson and/or Uribe don't pick it up, aren't going to be coming at the same pace. Pitching needs to improve. The bullpen needs to be fixed, and it probably will take a small miracle for KW to pull it off.

klaus kinski
Right-with most teams short in starting pitchers, no one will give us relief help
Milkman delivers
Politte is done. That's painfully obvious. McCarthy couldn't a worse reliever if he tried. He's a horses*** excuse for a reliever.

daa84
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Cotts and Politte are totally ineffective-who would have thought that these 2 are likely being replaced by Thurmond and Nelson in all honesty...i hate to be that guy looking for optimism after at horrid few days, but politte wont pitch this poorly all year, if he comes around, which i think he will eventually....and thornton/cotts/jenks do what they have we will get better...that said we certainly do need insurance and another quality arm if we want to be real contenders to the crown again note: before i get jumped on about politte...by coming around...i mean more in line with a high 3 ERA than his 2 ERA last year Edited June 2, 2006 by daa84
SleepyWhiteSox
Remember when Ozzie was saying McCarthy could be the closer early on? I don't buy that he can't be effective in the pen because he's meant to be a starter...I really wanna see him step up...

Hey, maybe our minors could produce someone capable of posting a sub 4 ERA? No? Well, what about a sub 5 ERA? No?! Sub 10ERA?! Yeah, we could probably get that. Did Cleveland sack up or did we somehow turn comatose? Welcome back to the pennant race, Tribe assholes. Did people really expect the Indians to be a .500 team all season? They've had a lot of injuries to their entire pitching staff, and they've got their guys back healthy. Their hitting is AWESOME, especially if Broussard and Blake keep it up.
