SleepyWhiteSox
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) He's chillin with Chris Young, in a trade we're going to curse for a long time could have used BMac as fifth starter, kept Viz and had Young for CF. McCarthy doing as well as or better than Javier (arguably our 2nd most consistent starter) is a nice thought...I have my doubts...

Vazquez is a tremendous pitcher. We're not talking about Vizcaino and Young for Todd Ritchie here. I didn't want to see Young leave, but the way it goes with our system, we produce Mike Cameron/Aaron Rowand clones at a rate of one every few years. fathom
The Tigers really remind me of the 2005 Sox so far. Great starting pitching, amazing relief work, and a never-say-die attitude.
GreatScott82
the bullpen just isn't cutting it. i know i even mentioned go trade for another center fielder. but right now our major concern is the pen. Its obvious that Pollite is burned out from last year, Cotts isn't lights out like last year. So lets see Hermy out, Pollite and Cotts not the same. KW also traded Marte and Vizciano. This is a complete turn from last years success. Yea we still have the young Jenks and BMac coming around and Thorton surprising everyone, but this bullpen is below medeocre. Were not making the playoffs w/ this bullpen KW needs to do what it takes to fine tune it. We need a righty setup man! I'm not as worried about Cotts BUT he needs to be more consistent. Pollite im afraid is damaged goods. KW needs to find a replacement and soon. Any suggestions? Is it too early to talk trades. We did hit June. santo=dorf
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, maybe our minors could produce someone capable of posting a sub 4 ERA? No? Well, what about a sub 5 ERA? No?! Sub 10ERA?! Yeah, we could probably get that. Hilarious how you don't like the idea of trading prospects for bullpen guys, yet all of our minor leaguers get the Cleveland steamer treatment from you. :rolly How many teams do you think would love to be in our position right now in terms of our ML talent and farm system? Texsox
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) I fail to see how people are jumping off a bridge when they state the fact that a few of our relievers are f***ing horrendous. They are playing f***ing horrendous, but even Eck didn't save every game. I'm really not concerned, it's a long season and players are either peaking, getting top peaking, or slumping. Brace yourself but Dye will have a terrible week or two, as will Thome, and everyone else. It's the nature of sports.

Say goodbye to Sweeney, Fields, or Lumsden if you're looking for a reliever with a ERA below 4. Is it worth it to you? I'll take a bet any trade made will be for a Thorton-type project pitcher with good stuff and limited results.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) They are playing f***ing horrendous, but even Eck didn't save every game. I'm really not concerned, it's a long season and players are either peaking, getting top peaking, or slumping. Brace yourself but Dye will have a terrible week or two, as will Thome, and everyone else. It's the nature of sports. There's a difference between Dye/Thome and these relievers. Dye and Thome are everyday players that have proven year after year to be consistently good. Relievers are hit or miss, for the most part, and it's pretty normal for them to have career years and then disappear. Politte is not getting any better. It's obvious. Nelson is decent enough, but he's only gonna be in a game for a hitter or two, and he's gonna walk someone for each out he gets. And McCarthy just isn't cut out for the pen. He's been terrible. That many bad relievers just isn't gonna fly.

The guys in the pen on the other hand have been doing this pretty much all season. That's a 2 month slump
