Guest JimH
The other way to look at it is, if Brian Anderson were showing a bare minimum of success at the plate, they'd never have to pinch hit for him. He isn't, so you pinch hit Mackowiak. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
jphat007
Seems strange to me that DJ is doing play by play in the ninth.

Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Anderson's defense has taken on a Chuck Norris like mythology on this site. Yeah, well, it's such a stretch to say that on a ball that Mackowiak froze on and misread, but still ALMOST caught up to, Anderson would have gotten. Guest JimH
Well you have to agree that Anderson reads the ball off the bat better, and gets to the ball better. So if Mack was almost there, you would think Anderson would be there. You might be right but I think the ball was over his head no matter what. Jake
I venture to say Anderson's defense is as good or better than Rowand's. The offense of course is no comparison.

He isn't, so you pinch hit Mackowiak. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. It's exactly what I said earlier. Anderson's struggles at the plate are f***ing this team over big time, and a result is Mackowiak having to play in CF.
