TLAK
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) This offense is, without a doubt, hands down, much better than last year's offense. There isn't an argument you could make that would sway any other person on this site in the least. Sure, this '06 team hasn't proven to be better or even as good as the 2005 team, but that's because the starting pitching has been awful. This '06 offense has proven to be undeniably better than the '05 offense. Hell, if the pitching was as good as it was last year with the new and improved offense, the Sox might have lost 20 games to this point. The raw numbers support you, but the mix of guys in '05 was special. It was a shame to break them up. On July 30, 2005 the White Sox were 67-35. They had scored 501 runs and yielded 409, +92 This year they are 61-41 having scored 581 runs and yielding 495, +86. 6 run differential = 6 game differential? What ever, I've been beating this dead horse since the trades (I'm getting like Hanger). Going forward, I am very excited about what KW has done with year's bullpen. If they start getting some quality starts they could leave last year's team in the dust.
WHarris1
QUOTE(TLAK @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) Rob Mackowiak, Jim Thome, Brian N. Anderson have combined for 42 HR, 121 RBI. Carl Everett, Frank Thomas, Aaron Rowand have combined for 43 HR 128 RBI. I don't see the huge gain. That's obviously a horribly skewed way of looking at it. You cannot have both Everett and Frank seeing as how there is only 1 DH in the lineup. Not to mention Carl, Frank, and Aaron have 108 more AB's than Rob, Jim, and Brian. Using stats or your own eyes, you can see that this year's offense is 10x better than 2005.
WilliamTell
QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) .254 right now. after the terrible april (.190 avg), he's batted .268 (may), .270 (june) & .298 (july)... That's awesome, keep it up Frank. It'd really be something if he got up to .270 by the end of the year.
RKMeibalane
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) I think it was .252 last time I checked... and he is hitting a lot of HR's and has a good deal of RBI's especially since he does not play as much as most starters. Except for the time he spent on the DL, Frank has been an everyday player for Oakland.
Hangar18
Good for Frank. When you see him hitting LINE DRIVES, is when Big Frank is ON.

Nah he has to share sometime with Jay Payton......He is mostly there everyday but more than most everyday players he sits.
Chisoxfn
Angels were dumb enough to pitch to Frank and he had a single that tied the game for about an inning late in last night's game. Also drew a walk off ROdriguez in the 9th (leadoff variety) but than Krod struck out the side. I actually gave Frank a big ass ovation when they announced him and I'll be doing the same today. Its funny too, cause I've booed him on ocassions as well.

whitesoxfan101
Frank just singled in the 9th, 3 for 5 today with 4 ribbies. I can't believe how good and healthy he and Thome (obviously moreso Thome, but still) have been this year.
greasywheels121
This has been some vintage Frank the past few days. He was on base 5 times yesterday, with 3 hits and 2 walks yesterday. I wish he called it a career after last year, but he's obviously got some still in him, as long as he's healthy.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) This has been some vintage Frank the past few days. He was on base 5 times yesterday, with 3 hits and 2 walks yesterday. I wish he called it a career after last year, but he's obviously got some still in him, as long as he's healthy. I wish he had retired a White Sox, but if he can get himself to 500 homers and lock in a HOF spot, I'll live with him being on another team a couple years if it assures seeing him go into the hall as a White Sox. Kalapse
Frank Thomas' line since May 22nd: 53 G | 175 AB | 17 HR (10.21 AB/HR) | 47 RBI | .314/.433/.629/1.061 (f***ING GAUDY)

It's funny how mediocre he was before that first game, sporting a mighty fine .673 OPS, Jon serves up a couple and he goes on a '94esque tear. Most Everyone thought he was done, including me and I'm as big a Frank Thomas fan as you will find. Definition of "done": 2002 type numbers only with fewer ABs. Who would have put money down before the season started that Frank could do what he's currently doing? Not even Ken Harrelson would take that bet. It's just insane how great he's been over the past 2.5 months and the topper is that the Standing O that he got from the Sox fans appears to have started the whole damned thing.
