Thunderin'Thome
I always thought Gload got good wood everytime he got to the plate, but I just knew he just needs more consisten At-Bats to get a rhythem going. I wonder if he could possibly play OF, because I think we need to get him in the lineup more often. Remember a couple years ago when he hit that Grand Slam against the flubbies at Wrigley, but it was just foul...? Ahh....good Ross Gload memories.... hammerhead johnson
QUOTE(Thunderin @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 05:52 AM) I wonder if he could possibly play OF, because I think we need to get him in the lineup more often. Say man, no offense, but maybe you should stop talking about outfield defense for a little while. I noticed that you're the only guy on this site who thinks that Podsednik is capable of playing good defense, and now this. Gload is the worst defensive outfielder in baseball history. That dates back to 1869.

Gene Honda Civic
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) Gload is the worst defensive outfielder in baseball history. That dates back to 1869. I honestly find this funny. How come Ross Gload is judged so harshly based on 200 innings 2 years ago, when we were running out guys like Timo and Borchard, yet Pablo Ozuna gets a free pass for playing the same heartbreakingly bad OF for 150 innings the last two seasons? Yeah, I know. I was just being facetious.
DBAHO
He could always produce with the bat, but my issue with him is this. He's not good enough defensively to play in the OF, which means he's never going to get enough AB's here as the 25th man. Better off to have an OF in his place, which would also mean Ozuna would play more in the IF.
WilliamTell
I don't mind Gload or anything but I also have to agree that I'd rather have someone else playing up here that actually can play good defense in the outfield.
Jim Spencer
Gload is the worst defensive outfielder in baseball history. That dates back to 1869. The worst defensive outfielder in Sox History, IMO was Brian Daubach Ross is a very good 1st baseman, when he gets some At-bats he's a very good hitter, but he's not a very good outfielder

lukeman89
i think hes gettin all this playing time because KW is thinkin of using him as trade bait to help our BP or get a CF

But you know, it could be your thing too. Maybe they made up Thome's injury so Gload could improve his trade value.

He's had 1 day off the entire year, and giving him some time at DH while Thome heals up is a good way to give him some rest, while still keeping his bat in the lineup. South Side Fireworks Man
Gload is on this roster for the very reason he is being used this series--in case anything happens to Thome or Konerko. I'm glad he's here. Yes, Gload is a natural first baseman and a pretty good fielding one at that. And he is a solid hitter.
Thunderin'Thome
Haha yeah I agree with the previous poster, Gload is our best buneter on the team. I bet Ozzie well play him more now after seeing that.
