Kyyle23
QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) Hopefully the offense can score a few runs to support Buehrle tomorrow. Anyone else notice how Jenks looked like he was about to piss his pants in the 9th? hm, I thought he looked really intense last night, not scared. MSHAWKS
Cliff Politte seems like a good guy and its always nice to see dwarfs try to succeed in the big people world, but if Guillen ever puts him into a close game again I'll Charles Wittman his ass from my upper deck seat before he gets to the mound. Other than that, I forgot how much better I sleep after a win than I do after a loss. I feel rejuvinated today.
YASNY
That was a much needed, but UGLY win. The Sox gave up three or four should've been outs in the first two innings, causing Javy to up his pitch count by striking guys out to get outs. After the 7 running inning, they put their bats to bed for the night. Javy comes out after the big inning and promptly lets Texas back in the game, though that sometimes happens after a long inning. Jenks didn't exactly close the door in the 8th. He was bailed out on a great play by Iguchi. Otherwise that shot rolls to the wall and clears the bases. henry wiggins
I was at the game, lots of fun and also plenty of moments of dread -- when Politte came out everyone around me said 'oh NO!', which I joined -- Vasquez didn't have his best stuff, obviously, but did a nice job of pitching out of the jam he got himself into early on. He never is good past about the 5th or 6th, though, I notice; and he throws a LOT of pitches and goes behind on counts after being ahead. That could stand improvement. But I was also delighted to see the Sox get 8 runs with no long balls -- good aggressive baserunning and hits, hits, hits! Yes! Maybe Ozzie moved Mack to LF late to give Pods even just a little rest, since he's been playing regularly *and* he was at the park 2-3 hours early yesterday for the "fundamentals" drill, it says on the Sox site: http://tinyurl.com/h74hy
Gregory Pratt
I thought it was classy to give Vazquez the standing ovation.
My Dixie Normus
I did notice that Bobby looked like he was about to drop a loaf in his knickers. If he is like that all the time, I have never noticed it. But his hook was dropping off the table and his heater was leaving a vapor trial as always. He struck out Botts at least once, if not twice from what I could see. I didn't notice the the umps zone as being particularly small until the bottom of the 9th. I was sitting infront of some Texas fans on Friday. Two interesting comments they guy had. 1.) He was as shocked as most of the rest of baseball that the Rangers were leading the West by 5 games. 2.) He asked if the ball park was always this crowded. I told him it was a bit light actually (32k). The enitre last home stand was sold out. They have had 13 straight games over 30k and only one game under 25k all year. He was stunned. He said the Rangers were not drawing that well even with the 5 game lead. I made sure that I was a good ambassador for the Sox. I complimented him on his team and gave him some tips on what to do while in town and where to eat at the park. I even told him when to get to the box office for the release of the VIP seats on Saturday. At the end, I wished him good luck with the rest of the season and that I hoped he enjoyed his stay in Chicago. I am pretty sure it was not the welcome he was expecting. WCSox
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) Huge win, but I was almost pissed after the win. Just sitting in the stands, watching them almost screw this game over, I am just glad that they pulled away with the W. ^^^ Hopefully they'll get their heads out of their arses today.
