nitetrain8601
I'd trade BMac and Uribe for him straight up if Baltimore did it with them possibly paying some salary.
GoodAsGould
When the playoffs start you really only need 3 good starters and than probably at least an avg. 4th one. So taking that into consideration obviously 2 of those 3 will be Contreras and Buehrle. Than im guessing the 3rd will be either Garcia or Vazquez(depending on whose traded) and that puts either Garland or B-Mac(again depending on whose traded) in bullpen which both are fine in. Than you go in the playoffs with possibly the best offense in the majors.. 2 top of the rotation starters and another above avg. starter and at least an adequete 4th starter. For the bullpen we have Jenks and Cotts who in a big game i rely on both. I also think while B-Mac has struggled in his bullpen role now pitching in a playoff atmosphere id be happy with him same with Garland. So you have the great offense... a pitcher that will get you into the 7th inning and 3 guys you rely on out of the bullpen in any situation. A course im getting ahead of myself a little.... who knows maybe Jenks or Cotts completely blow up or get injured..... or maybe Politte gets his s*** together and turns into his form from last season or maybe another RP steps up or even we might trade for a bp arm. I think Tejada is that damn good that I'd trade McCarthy, Fields, and Uribe for Tejada. If you get Tejada, you make every aspect of the team better. With the extra offense, it gives your pitching a little more breathing room.

I see your point, and you're right...but it doesn't work without us finding another RH reliever somewhere. Personally I'd still prefer to see Brandon in the starting 5 next year though. You know I'd like to see McCarthy in the rotation NOW, but for some reason, I don't feel like the organization is too high on him. I have no doubt that KW will add another RH reliever, any my prediction is that it will be Roberto Hernandez.

I don't mind the thought of trading Brandon, but if we do trade him, then we should really think about trying to get relief pitching for him. I would too, just in Baltimore over here.
southsider2k5
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) I don't mind the thought of trading Brandon, but if we do trade him, then we should really think about trying to get relief pitching for him. Unless you are getting a top notch closer for him, trading Brandon McCarthy or any other top starting pitching project for a reliever is extremely short sighted at best.
