maggsmaggs
http://www.ballislife.com/viewVideo.php?number=523 After watching some of his highlights, I truly believe he can be a Dwayne Wade-type player. Maybe more passing and less scoring, but he has that lighting quick first step, the uncanny ability to adjust in mid air and can bring the ball in the paint and finish. What do you guys think? I really hope Illinois can get him. **Just realized, i should have put this in the recruiting thread, my bad. Palehosefan
I don't think it should be a big deal having a seperate thread on him, as he's an Illini recruit and a special talent. If the Illini can bring him in alongside Eric Gordon, you will have one of the best backcourts in the nation, for at least a year. I think he will be a brilliant PG that can overmatch opposing PG's with his athletecism and size. If he stops growing, I think he would be in the Gilbert Arenas mold. fathom
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) Please expound. Not much needs to be said. The person running his recruitment is looking out for himself, and himself only. Most of the stuff has been well documented. Just like the Sherron Collins recruitment, programs are better off shying away from the politics.

Make that 2 of us that have it on good authority. The guy I'd look for next in the class of 2007 is Evan Turner or Brokeith Pane.
Palehosefan
I can tell you this as well, UNC is NOT recruiting Derrick Rose right now. For whatever reasons.

Although I could see UNC having class and dropping off of Rose since he's going to the highest bidder, however Georgia Tech isn't somebody I'd consider to be a classy school that wouldn't pay Collins. But in that case, guess they took the high road.

But in that case, guess they took the high road. Paul Hewitt is one of the classiest coaches in all of America. They dropped out of the Collins race very early in the process when the found out what the recruitment consisted of.

Jimbo...by no means am I an Illini fan. I'm as big of an Illini hater as there is. I've heard from numerous reliable sources that Collins and Longstreet were compensated nicely for their decision. Well I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that Collins was paid to go to Kansas (and Longstreet got a lovely prize as well). Was it Self? I don't know, might have been boosters, but he saw a lot of green when he got to Lawrence. And Eric Gordon disagrees with your Weber comment. That never happens in college basketball.
