PeoriaSoxFan
This year, our pitchers don't match up well with any good hitting teams. BTW...since I forgot to do it, kudos to Vazquez for showing massive balls tonight. Good point. Other than Jose, we aren't much of a power pitching team. A lot of balls around the plate for good hitters.

greg775
Umm...Oz has gone by the matchup book since he got here. Its the one thing about his managing that I consistantly disagree with. I thought Oz was known for his not being conventional last year and that was part of his excellence.

fathom
Great catch by Anderson. Needless to say, Mackowiak doesn't catch that......but damn, is Hafner scary at the plate.

SoxHawk1980
That reminded me of Crash Rowand. Anderson sure can't hit his weight, but at least he has heart. Or, at most he has heart.

PeoriaSoxFan
OK, bring on the that's why we need BA posts. Maybe this will give him the confidence to hit the game winnig walk-off HR in the 9th, 10th, or whatever.

No one can take anything away from Ozzie leading us to the WS....but a manager looks like a genius when he has guys throwing the s*** out of the ball for almost a whole season like we did with Cotts, Cliff, and Hermanson. henry wiggins
Don't send him (BA) to Charlotte! Who gives a f* if he hits -- nobody else would have got to that ball! WOW! Edited June 10, 2006 by henry wiggins
Frankensteiner
Maybe we should just get another starting pitcher? I say this because a) the likely available bullpen arms just suck ass and B) there's a possibility Garland could be an effective reliever (he did well coming out of the pen in '01). KevHead0881
QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) I thought Oz was known for his not being conventional last year and that was part of his excellence. He is unconventional with just about everything else. But he's always gone with the lefty/lefty, righty/righty deal. Hence why he'd always bring in Marte last year regardless of the fact that he sucked against lefties. I'd be a lot more pissed about it if this wasn't standard for almost every major league manager. greg775
This is why Anderson belongs in the big leagues. Then simply forfeit his at bats. His at bats are horrific. I'd rather see him not bat. Simply give the team the out. Or make him bunt every single time he's up there. His hitting is sad.

SoxHawk1980
This is why Anderson belongs in the big leagues. If you mean because he is the least bad of the available options, then I agree. However, if the Sox had even a mediocre backup, Anderson should be in AAA. He is not a major league quality player. A real major leaguer can hit above the Mendoza Line. Man, do we have low expectations for our pitchers this year. Vazquez gave up like 50 runners in this game. He pitched with balls...but he had his work cut out for him. greg775
Who gives a f* if he hits -- I do. Can we DH for him and let the pitcher bat? That would be better and we could use BA for defense. Time to change baseball's rules.
