This is the point of it right here.

Race was a further complication in the episode. Jefferson is black, and some Democrats say that black voters could be alienated if he is forced aside.

When DeLay got caught with his hand in the cookie jar the Republicans not only forced him to give up his post but his seat in the house as well. The Democrats are so worried about not alienating black people that they dont want to go after someone who's guilty as sin. These are the same people who talk about a culture of corruption in Washington. Indeed there is, and they are helping perpetuate it. What a bunch of hypocrites.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi requested the investigation start on Jefferson and when the evidence began to mount against Jefferson, she also asked him to remove himself from the committee he is a member of because of possible conflicts of interest.

Please don't lump the Congressional Black Caucus which has its own agenda with the leadership of the Democratic party.

That's fair and accurate.

All thought it is a fair request, I would still love to see the same respect paid to the religious right, and fiscal/small government conservatives...

I would love for Mr. Jefferson to take the Delay route and retire now.

Problem is, that's not the DeLay route.

DeLay denied everything, pledged to fight, and stuck around in Congress for several months insisting on his innocence and being a pain in the ass, before finally retiring and saying he did everything with honor and integrity.

If you want the DeLay route, this is going to be awhile.

This guy is denying everything and pledging innocence. This despite the fact that someone already pleaded guilty to paying him mad bribes and that 90 grand in cash was found in Jefferson's freezer. LOL!

As long as there's a resignation somewhere along the lines.
