But regarding the contract, it was altered per Samardzija's rep at the urging of MLB. Sounds like, but has not been confirmed, he's got to stay away from football for good to get the full bonus. He grew up being a huge Sox fan a few miles away from me, so I don't see him playing for the Cubs for 5 years to get that money.
