Heads22
Cliffy started for Charlotte tonight, going 1.2 IP, giving up 1 H and 1 BB with 2 K. Haegs then went the next 7.1 for the win. A healthy Cliff is a hell of a sixth arm in the pen.
whitesoxfan101
Hopefully there was something wrong with him all year, and he's now healthy and back to something resembling 2005 form, or at least back to his career averages. Heck of a "long relief" guy to have. Plus, I think Montero may have been exposed for what he is the other night, so come back Cliff.
Capn12
Whatever gets Montero out of that 'pen. I'll take: Cotts, BMac, Riske, Thornton, Politte and Jenks as my pen anyday if they are all clicking.
Rowand44
Just give me the 3.9ish era Cliff that he has been his whole career and that's a hell of a 6th bullpen arm and gives us a solid pen, 1-6. SoxFan1
He started? Why not just let Haegs go 7 and then bring Cliff in?
beck72
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 06:20 AM) He started? Why not just let Haegs go 7 and then bring Cliff in? So Politte can warm up and throw exactly when he's ready, rather than waiting for the "right" time and situation. Getting Politte back to where he needs to be is more important to the sox than making sure Haeger gets his innings in.
Dick Allen
I'm not excited about Polite. I think its nearly a lock he'll be the same gascan he has been this year once he gets back. KW is going to have to get another reliever.
GoSox05
The dream Polite he lives inside of my head.
Chisoxfn
The Sox are going to find out what Politte has left now, so if he doesn't have anything left they'll have time to make another acquisition or turn things over to someone else. I am thinking when he does come up, we won't see him used near as much as the Sox try to keep his arm a bit more fresh and hope that allows him to feel better when he's on the mound. Agreed, although I think your actually rooting for Cliff to fail so that we see your boy Tracey again.

If Politte can help this yr, fine. If not, the sox have time to make some outside moves.

Now lets see if Cliff can get major league hitters out.
