minors
I just wanted to take the posting today and compare: Nuke posted about the Sears Tower stopping a terrorist attack, which of course is good FBI brings down the Terrorist cell planning that attack And proof of WMD in Iraq Now to the liberal posts: Iraq in miserable state Minimum wage defeated And Republicans refuse to account for tax dollars I just wonder why the liberals always have to post the bad news, why are the always focusing on the bad if this country is in such bad shape why do 71% love this country. This is not meant to be cynical I would just like an honest answer. Edited June 23, 2006 by minors
YASNY
The Liberals try and knock down this administration by posting "bad" news. The Conservatives try and prop up this administration by posting "good" news. It's been that way around here from the beginning.

NorthSideSox72
There are so many things that come to mind reading that post. But most are so obvious to everyone here that there isn't much point in posting them. So instead, lets go with this. Minors: has it occurred to you that perhaps there is some degree of truth in the points being made in ALL SIX of those articles/threads?
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) Minors: has it occurred to you that perhaps there is some degree of truth in the points being made in ALL SIX of those articles/threads? Shut up. Liberals just want to tear down the President because they're crazy hippies. Conservatives are fighting for truth justice and the American way. That's the lesson to be taken! Don't you know? And Liberals are on the run. Running like Osama. So they've gotta smear Bushie. Like Beard Boy does in his tapes. The bastards! And Conservatives gotta speak truth to power Tell the world how good things are Or else the Libral media They're no good! -------------- Let's analyze a bit: FBI brings down the Terrorist cell planning that attack Good story. And proof of WMD in Iraq Which turned out not to be proof by the DOD's own admission. Those Liberal Cranks! Iraq in miserable state As said by our Ambassador in Iraq's memo! THAT LIBERAL f***ER! Minimum wage defeated Well it was, wasn't it? But I guess we should ignore that and not mention it. Besides, don't Conservatives consider this good news? And Republicans refuse to account for tax dollars They do!
LowerCaseRepublican
Let's keep up the bichromatic political rainbow! Pro-choice? Congratulations, you must also want a ban on assault weapons! Pro-life? Congratulations, you must also agree with the war on Terror and the methods used to fight it. Sorry but no -- see, there's this thing called the politcal spectrum and there's multiple parties on whose platforms people can agree. Even better, people can be conservative about some issues and liberal about others with set platform dictating how they're supposed to believe. It's a really nifty thing. YASNY
Funny, but I thought I called it pretty accurately without trying to put a political spin on things.
Gregory Pratt
The Liberals try and knock down this administration by posting "bad" news. Well, yes and no. The minimum wage story was about Congress and not the Administration. The Conservatives try and prop up this administration by posting "good" news. True enough. Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) You've still got to get your political spin in there, don't you? I was pointing out that your statement was analytically inaccurate. Pointing out that the Congress killed a minimum wage increase is about the Congress (specifically, the Senate) and not the Administration. Conservatives, being in power, will gravitate toward each other and help one another maintain power by putting their positive spin in things. Liberals, being out of power, naturally want it back and point out what they consider the flaws in the current Administration. That explains the discrepancy quite well, I think. jackie hayes
You also have 'liberal' threads assaulting the French record and talking about a cleanup in Congress, and a conservative thread about someone being 'screwed' for not speaking Spanish. Kind of a downer tone there. And GP's point about the minimum wage hike is correct -- it's interesting that you consider that "bad news"... You also have 'liberal' threads assaulting the French record and talking about a cleanup in Congress, and a conservative thread about someone being 'screwed' for not speaking Spanish. Kind of a downer tone there. Come again -- is that directed at me? I have been critical of the French, but I can't recall me starting a thread about a cleanup in Congress or about someone being screwed for speaking Spanish -- although I did participate in threads of that nature -- and so I'm wondering if you're referring to me, and what exactly you mean. What's so difficult to understand? You had to jump in with your political spin. Period. If you're saying that I was sitting around and said, "Let's find something to take out so I can jump on YASNY!" then you're wrong. That's not how I operate, and if that's your "long term general observation" you're much mistaken. As far as spin, I contend that I wasn't spinning in response to your post politically. I made a correction to something that was incorrect. There is no political spin in saying "This is about Congress, not the White House." YASNY, I think it be best if you return it -- some poor rodent is around without an ass because of you! As far as taking "specific incident"s to refute "general observations," I've nothing to add except that I was correcting an incorrect statement and nothing more. I backed what you were saying, in different words, just noted that the way you had made your point was wrong upon review.
YASNY
Sometimes, the insistance of people ... on both sides ... to not post anything that gives one iota of concession that doesn't conform with their specific agenda makes the 'buster suck. kapkomet
I see this thread got closed. Look, people, this rampant nitpicking crap needs to stop. Everyone doesn't have to be right about everything all of the time. Sometimes, the IDEA of a post is more what it's about, not the exact phrasiology (I like making up words) ... and to tear people down over semantics is just plain stupid. Everyone here knew what points were being made, and it just kept on to be 'right'. If people want to do that, we'll just get rid of this forum altogether. I don't think that needs to happen, but the stupidity of this thread makes this place a whole lot worse. If you notice, that's why the media threads (thanks Rex for the reminder here) were stopped.
