shoota
QUOTE(loltrain @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) The "they can't beat the good teams" crap is getting old. The White Sox weren't very good against the "good teams" last year, and you haven't even played them this year. (Since obviously we're not a good team, I can only assume that NYY, Boston, and yourselves are the only "good teams" in all of MLB). I just don't understand why noone can accept that maybe, just maybe, the AL Central has two good teams? Wow! That would be an amazing development! You won the world series last year, you'd think that might stop you from having to be so defensive about every other team. Most Sox fans can admit the AL Central has two great teams, but the reason for the skepticism of Detroit is to discover why the better of the two teams--the White Sox--are trailing the inferior of the two--the Tigers--in the standings. DABearSoX
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) I hung out in downtown Detroit friday night visiting some friends that work in the labs at Wayne State, and I was AMAZED at all the Tigers gear. I'd say 1/2 of the people in the bars and clubs we went to had either a Tigers hat, or Tigers shirt on. I'm glad they will support a winner, bandwagon or not, that city needs something to cheer about. They've had the best teams in Hockey and Basketball for the past 8 years.......what are you talking about? I'd still cheer for Windsor over that dump though.... chitownsportsfan
They've had the best teams in Hockey and Basketball for the past 8 years.......what are you talking about? I'm talking more generally: as in the total economic slump the city is in. Walking around Detroit is like walking back 40 years in the past, except everything has rusted over and the people have all gone away. It's sad, and I'm glad that at least 81 times this year, downtown Detroit will feel like a city on the move.

Judging by your quote, you disagree with my statement that the Sox are the superior team to the Tigers. Feel free to explain your reasoning why my factual definitive statement is false. Kalapse
I love how the minority opinion of Sox fans is being represented as the majority in this thread. The small portion of delusional Sox fans that for whatever reason believe the Tigers will soon fade away do not represent the majority of Sox fans with their comments, that however does not stop Tiger fans from playing this "stop hating on us card" when in all actuality their team is being preceived as a legitimate threat. I would have to say earlier in the season most of us thought the tigers were going to fade away, I saw a lot of comparisons to the Nats last year. I was one of them.....now after watching plenty of thier games I see they are for real and I believe most of us think so too...... and I think plenty of us used the "stop hating us card" last year....... SoxFan1
Some of the posts in this thread are laughable...and by both sides. I agree with everything Kalapse said. But I do agree that the Tigers have been s*** against the good teams. And on top of that, we're 5-1 against the Tigers.

And we have been s*** against bad teams (KC, TB, CLE). We also haven't played the Yanks or Red Sox so who's to say we won't fare as poorly as the Tigers did against them? The thing that bothers me is some people's obvious ignorance to the numbers. We're now 76 games into the season meaning there's 86 games remaining in the season, inorder to win 90 games the Tigers need to win only 39 more games, that means they can go 39-47 the rest of the way and still get to 90. In order for the Tigers to win 95 games they only need to play slightly above .500 ball the rest of the way at 44-42. If people really don't think the Tigers can go 44-42 in their final 86, they're kidding themselves. Edited June 25, 2006 by Kalapse
Greg The Bull Luzinski
Perhaps we can divide ourselves into two categories: believers and non-believers. ... That's not very PC. ... Category 1. Detroit will go away, Category 2. Detroit will finish in second place, likely taking the Wild Card. Category 1 is probably the minority, as most people believe the Wild Card will come from the Central. "Fading away" could be interpretted in different ways.
