34FG56MB52JC
Still Alive. Albert is coming up after 5 batters see the plate. Don't think we'll be seeing him unless the Cards get some hits.
Ndgt10
Yep...and I couldn't agree more. At least you don't kid yourself into thinking the tigers have a great defense.
Kalapse
QUOTE(loltrain @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) To the people blaming Izzy: Chad Qualls. Isringhausen is a horrid reliever, atleast Qualls is halfway decent, it's tough not to blame a closer for blowing a game. It's not about taking credit away from the Tigers, it's about Izzy being a ridiculously bad closer.

Um...they do have a great defense. Many baseball experts say their infield defense has the best range in all of baseball.

chitownsportsfan
Look up the stats Ndgt10, the Tiger's are far and away the best at run prevention in the league, and their defensive efficiency ranking is right there at the top as well. I'm not saying they are going to win at a .660 clip the rest of the year, but they aren't going away. I'ts almost July and they've proven they aren't a fluke. I'm happy, it means the wild card will likely come from the AL Central, no more Yankees and Red Sox.

jphat007
LOL, and the poor Cardinals have to send out Sidney Ponson to try and avoid the sweep. Ouch.

It's mind-boggling that they're the 2nd best team in the NL. And yes jphat, I was cheering for Pods slam last night.

chitownsportsfan
They do not have a great defense. Your head is the sand man. Their DER is .725! Easily, the best in the league. The Sox are 2nd at .710. They are a VERY good defensive team.

loltrain
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) I don't get this post at all. Please explain. The point is, there are some Sox fans who seem to think the Tigers didn't deserve to tie the game, Izzy just blew it. So by that token, the Chisox didn't deserve to win today it was merely Chad Qualls sucking. I don't agree with either of course.

You're not watching the same games as me then. Inge and Granderson both have exceptional range, and Guillen, Polanco, and Shelton are all good. Pudge is of course an excellent defensive catcher as well.
