SoxFan76
OO-ribe is the correct way to pronounce it. Our Chicago accent butchers most of the names. But those guys were pissing me off the other night. Especially Joe Morgan. I got the impression that he truly hates the White Sox. Referring to their 9 game winning streak, "when you win 9 games in a row, you have to have a lot of luck." F-off Morgan. This team is good, admit it. It doesn't sound that bad when reading it...you just had to hear the tone of his voice I guess. There were more instances, I'm sorry that's the only one I remember off hand. Oh, a lot of references to Boston and New York when discussing the league's best teams. Sorry guys, Detroit and Chicago are in a league of their own. Nobody else can compare. Toronto scares me more than the beasts from the east. (I hope I picked the right color. It's my first time using it on this site.) Then of course Miller's constant Ozzie Smith references. Gimme a break. The guy's been all over the news for the past week. You can at least get his name right. And the constant legend of Iguchi-san. Give me a break. Laaaame. Sox fans prefer to say "he's f-ing good!" I'll give Miller one thing. His grand slam call was great. Better than Berman's "OOOH NOOOOOO!!!" in the ALDS last year!
Leonard Zelig
So has anyone heard anything about Pablo?
tealeafreaderii
QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) didnt he call tadahito "Iguchison" at some point in the game? I think its iguchi-san adding the san to name implies they are "soto" to you... Its kind of like showing respect to your betters... or being polite. NorthSideSox72
For those who may have forgotten, our very own manager once battled with the media to get his name right. To this day, very few do. He insisted it was "Gee-ZHEN" (the 'zh' being like a j an z combined). But people all pronounce it Gee-en. He apparently gave up correcting people at some point. Dick Allen
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) For those who may have forgotten, our very own manager once battled with the media to get his name right. He calls himself Gee-yen on the pregame video. He has stated several times he doesn't care how people pronounce it, just as long as its spelled correctly on his paycheck. valponick
At this point I think we should put Pablo on the DL to fully heal, we're going to need him down the stretch.
Heads22
If Pabs is DL'd, I honestly have no idea who would come up.

Heads22
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Where's Pedro at now a days? Lopez? AA. For some reason, I'm thinking 12th pitcher, or for some odd reason, Torcato due to versatility. I suppose Owens could be a possibility too....but not likely. I was thinking about Owens or Sweeney, but they are both lefthanded. Sweeney could play all three outfield positions though.
