WHITE SOX AT CUBS “CROSSTOWN SHOWDOWN” RETURNS TO COMCAST SPORTSNET WITH LIVE, TWO-HOUR PRE-GAME SHOWS, BATTING PRACTICE & EXTENDED POSTGAME

“Crosstown Showdown Pre-Game Live” to Begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30 and Sunday, July 2

 

Chicago, IL (June 26, 2006) – Comcast SportsNet, the television home for more White Sox and Cubs games than any other network, will once again provide fans on both sides of town with the most comprehensive coverage available for round two of the “Crosstown Showdown” as the network will air two, two-hour Crosstown Showdown Pre-Game Live specials presented by Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Chevy Dealers on Friday, June 30 and Sunday, July 2 beginning at 11:00 AM.

As part of Crosstown Showdown Pre-Game Live, Comcast SportsNet will provide live batting practice coverage featuring both White Sox and Cubs players with SportsNite’s Kerry Sayers and Chuck Garfien on the White Sox beat and Gail Fischer and Luke Stuckmeyer covering the Cubs. In addition, SportsNite’s Josh Mora will provide interviews with VIPs in attendance and Mitch Robinson will conduct interviews around Wrigleyville with both White Sox and Cubs fans. SportsNite’s Pat Boyle will host the two-hour pre-game festivities on both days and will be joined by Comcast SportsNet’s White Sox studio analyst Bill Melton and Cubs studio analyst Dan Plesac.

Among the planned highlights this Friday on Crosstown Showdown Pre-Game Live include one-on-one interviews with White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and Cubs manager Dusty Baker, a feature on the Wrigley Field scoreboard crew and a “Know Your Opponents” segment which asks players from both sides of town to answer questions about their opponent’s history. On Sunday’s Crosstown Showdown Pre-Game Live, features include a look at the lack of votes for players on the White Sox, along with a segment on ALS Day, discussing the on-going fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease and how Major League Baseball is doing their part to raise awareness.

On Friday, June 30, Comcast SportsNet will have “White Sox coverage” of the game featuring the announcing tandem of Ken “Hawk” Harrelson and Darrin Jackson beginning at 1:20 PM. On Sunday, July 2, Comcast SportsNet will have “Cubs coverage” of the game featuring announcers Len Kasper and Bob Brenly also beginning at 1:20 PM.

Plus, every White Sox and Cubs home game will be produced in a high-definition format and all HD games will be available on Comcast Cable channel 200 and RCN channel 540.
