hammerhead johnson
The dreaded Yankees, who made it into the playoffs on the strength of Bucky Dent heroics. In 1978, the Yankees again met the Dodgers in the first World Series rematch since the Yanks and Braves squared off in 1957 and '58. New York had a tough road to the Series, as they first had to make up a 14-game deficit in the American League East standings, then beat the Red Sox in a one-game playoff before eliminating Kansas City for the third straight year in the American League Championship Series. KevHead0881
Dodgers won it all the year I was born. Funny thing though. I always thought that I'd be doomed as a baseball fan due to the fact that I was born during the strike in 1981 (the season resumed 4 days after I arrived on the scene). Of course, the Sox won it all last year, so thankfully that theory went to hell.
