Greg Hibbard
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) winning another one. you do understand semantically that "taking the next step" sounds pretty stupid when you're talking about a world series winner, right "taking the next step" typically applies to ALCS teams that didn't make the world series, to ALDS teams that didn't make the championship
The Critic
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) So why is everyone so pessimistic? 2 down, Mabry up. The lack of the fundamentals that won the 2005 team so many games is not there today. That's what has me a little pessimistic. But here's hoping that the Sox can get to Dempster and win this game! Greg The Bull Luzinski
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Well, this is gonna sound weird, but we always seem to lose to the Cubs on Sunday. I have noticed that too because I usually go to the Sunday games.
jphat007
QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) D'ANgelo Jiminez, Cory Snyder to name a few. I'm sure there are plenty more. The kid is a f***ing rookie. Give him a whole season before you label him. DLo was lazy, stupid and worthless, but he was 20x the hitter that BA is.

whitesoxin'
Which of these two scenarios is worse? a.) 1st and 2nd nobody out, well below average hitter fails to get a bunt down. B.) 1st and 2nd one out, one of the best hitters in the league grounds into a double play. Edited July 1, 2006 by whitesoxin'
southsideirish71
What has put us in a hole this game, is not the inability for brian to put a bunt down. Its the inability for Vazquez to throw quality pitches when he was ahead 0-2 and 1-2. Constantly throwing high pitches in the zone with 2 strikes was what lead to this. Vazquez got ahead of Lee and had a 1-2 count on him, then threw a fastball that tailed over the plate. He had Kd him the previous at bat with the slider he never uses for whatever reason. Thats 3 runs that Ramirez knocked in then would of come back off the board. But you knew after that Vaz would have a meltdown. jphat007
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Our team can't bunt. Ozzie has to realize that. There are about 2 guys I'd trust in that situation, and BA ain't one of 'em. I guarantee a lot of us saw him screwing that up. I'm sure we did. But Ozzie expects a major league player to be able to bunt the ball. If BA is that worthless that he can't even get a productive out, it's time to ship him out for awhile. southsideirish71
Here is another meathead double switch. Konkero is out, because Ozzie needed to have a double switch. How about taking Brian Anderson out, putting the pitcher in that spot, and then putting mack in center. We get Mack to leadoff. Ross is not a good leadoff guy, as he swings at everything. Now if we do tie it, we dont have Kong or Thome in the game. Dumb

Last chance here. Let's get it done. It is a dumb idea to PH a player just to have them bunt unless it is Paul or Thome, in which case they are swinging away no matter what. None of the blame can go on Ozzie there. HE did what ever manager would do.

Maybe when you play in Wrigley, you have to do Dusty's only managerial move, the double-switch.
