SoxFan76
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Man, I wish my mod powers stretched into Trade Winds. Seems like I'm the recipient of an awful lot of animosity these days, can't say I don't like it. I really do wish I could be outside right now but I doubt my bosses will appreciate that. So you want to ban other people because you were being a dick? I think that's why I was banned for a week. I still don't know exactly why I was banned, today is my first day back. But I think I said a mod was being a dick, so he banned me. That's how I got banned from the other site too. I think the mod selection processes need to be a little stricter on White Sox sites! heirdog
QUOTE(SouthSide2004 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) Well, if this watered-down discussion is so annoying then why don't you try to ignore it and not be such an asshole. Try going outside where running your mouth like that is going to lead to some serious consequences. It's not healthy for a 19 year old boy to be spending all his free time on the internet anyways. How are you helping resolve these silly issues with comments like this? Let them die out on their own without pseudo-threatening comments. Frankensteiner
I think we should seriously look into this. It's clear pitching is our biggest weakness but there's too many egos and feelings that could be hurt, so it's likely that nothing will happen there. We're going to have to out-homer teams to keep winning. And as much as I'd like to pledge my trust and undying love in the hands of Greg Walker and this offense with 4 guys having career seasons, I think this team would look much better with Jones. If Ozzie thought Anderson's hitting wasn't a problem, there's no way he would give Mackowiak's glove 3 starts in CF this week. And Mackowiak shouldn't be out there. EVER. It would be very nice to acquire Jones w/o giving up Anderson, allowing us to play Brian in left, shoring up the OF defense. I've seen way too many balls popping out of Pods glove. With the mediocre pitching we have had this year, we can't afford a CFer who bats below .240 let alone in the .100's. We need a centerfielder who can hit plus play very good defense out there. If KW & Ozzie don't think Anderson can do this yet, then they need to get someone quickly.

He has more ABs this year Vs righties than lefties. He's hitting .202 vs pitchers who throw with their right hand and .167 vs those who use their left. South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) Yeah, that's not true at all . . . He has more ABs this year Vs righties than lefties. He's hitting .202 vs pitchers who throw with their right hand and .167 vs those who use their left. Look, he doesn't play against a lot of righties. Ozzie doesn't trust him against the better righties yet. He didn't play today for example. The Sox have no one who can fill in adequately in CF when Anderson doesn't play. If he only missed a game every couple of weeks or so purely for a rest, Mack would be adequate I guess. But the Sox need an every day centerfielder who can catch and hit. Because the pitching has been mediocre, it's harder to cover for a CFer who can't play everyday because he hits .202 vs. righties and .167 against lefties and often doesn't play against a lot of righties because his manager doesn't like his chances against them. Personally, I would start Brian out there every day and see what he can do. If he can hit .264 from here out, great! But if he can't even hit .235, get someone in who can and also can play good defense in CF.

But if he can't even hit .235, get someone in who can and also can play good defense in CF. I did a little research concerning this. Over the past month (not counting the 5 games BA was supsended) the Sox have faced 10 right handed starters. Mack has started against 5 and BA has started against 5. The results raise a whole new set of questions. 7/8 - Beckett (BOS) - Mack - 2-4 7/6 - Ortiz (BAL) - Anderson - 2-4, R 7/5 - Cabrera (BAL) - Mack - 1-3, RBI 7/4 - Lopez (BAL) - Anderson 1-4, 2B, R, 2 RBI, BB 7/2 - Zambrano (CHC) - Mack - 2-4, R, BB 7/1 - Maddux (CHC) - Anderson 1-4, 2B, R 6/18 - Harang (CIN) - Mack - 4-4, 2R 6/14 - Padilla (TEX) - Mack - 1-3, BB 6/13 - Loe (TEX) - Anderson - 0-3, BB 6/11 - Westbrook (CLE) - Anderson - 2-4, HR, R, 3 RBI Anderson: 5 G | 6-19 (.316) | 4 R | 5 RBI | 1 HR Mack: 5 G | 10-18 (.556) | 3 R | 1 RBI | 0 HR So, is Ozzie really sitting BA against righties because he's not confident that BA can hit them (.316 avg) or is he playing Mack over BA because Rob is hitting .556 vs righties during this time frame? I don't think it has as much to do with sitting Brian because he can't hit righties as much as it's just him playing the hot bat in Mack. Hell, on the year Mack is hitting .325/.420/.462/.882 w/ 2 HR and 10 RBI vs righties.

If he wants to get Mack in the lineup, let him move around between LF, RF, 3B, maybe even 2B. We need Anderson's glove in CF --that is, as long as he can keep hitting at least .240. If not, we need another CF. And we're screwed if Anderson ever goes down with an injury.

If it doesn't kill you, or if you find the time to do it(either/or), what is his OBP during that time period? If it's .330, he's been productive as hell by saving runs defensively and getting on a 3rd of the time. If it's more than that, he's looking even better.
