Brian
QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Did anyone catch the 3-way match involving Samoa Joe at the TNA PPV? All i've been told is that i need to download it and so far luckily no one has spoiled it for me. It was ok. A couple of decent spots, but it still had Rhyno and Monty Brown in the match whom are both awful IMO. To each his own though. If you can download it, it's worth a view I guess. The 3 way match for the X-title was the best match of the night. You could tell Shelly and Sabin was un planned cuz they messed up a few times and seemed kind of tentative and you know those two can put on a great match if prepared. The Main Event was a cluster. Cage and Steiner getting booted after helping their guys, then Cage comes back for no reason to turn on Sting. I'm a big fan of TNA undercard matches, but really want to see new guys pushed to the main events and PPVs in different locations.

It just seems to be the second coming of late-90's WCW to me. All of the brand name guys who were dropped from WWE are trying the same backstage political power moves that they pulled on WCW, and they dont seem to understand that they are killing their own promotion because the same guys are always getting the big push. The inmates are running the asylum again. Nash doesnt need to be doing this crap anymore, its always the same story with him. Big buildup with tons of promos(some of them really funny), then when it comes down to gametime he pulls up lame, with the whispers that he doesnt want to job or his in-ring ability isnt good enough to pull off a good PPV. Then they have Jarrett with his 1/2 hour speeches and his neverending hold on the title belt. From what I read and what little I see, TNA has the young wrestlers to make this thing work, but with Jarrett always whispering in Dixie Carters ear they will never get their shot because of the boys club. TNA could be good, they just need to "Let the kids play".
Brian
Anyone see Hogan beat up the Imposter Hogan tonight? Imposter obviously never ran the ropes before and had no idea what to do. Looked bad. Real Hogan could barely slide into the ring. It would look really for Orton if he lost, but who knows. I think the match will be what we expect. Honestly, the only fun thing was the Umaga squash of the jobber and even that was boring. Twas a pretty lackluster Raw.
Brian
I FWD through the show. The set up for Foley/Flair is one of the best set ups for a match WWE has had in a long time. No idea what to expect Sunday.

The set up for Foley/Flair is one of the best set ups for a match WWE has had in a long time. No idea what to expect Sunday. I'm rooting for Orton against the One Legged Fossil. The Foley/Flair setup was really good in the early weeks but it has seemed (at least to me) that have taken a few pegs down since its inception. Foley's promos seemed to have been less quality and I really don't need to see Flair elbow dropping inanimate objects. That said though, it is going to be one of the few good matches on the PPV. There's not that much on the card that looks really interesting.

I think Foley's promos slipped a notch when he had to start including Flair in the back-and-forth, and then the rushed acceptance of Flair's challenge, when Foley had repeatedly said no to it, also hurt the buildup IMO. If they had Flair do something to embarrass or enrage Foley into accepting, that would be OK, but it was just like "NO REMATCH!!" "Aww, c'mon!" "OKAY!" and that hurt the storyline in my book. It takes a LOT for me to root for RKOverrated, but I too am hoping that somehow Hogan agrees to lay down for Orton. Seriously doubt it, though, unless there's some interference/shenanigans involved. Chavo/Rey MIGHT be a decent match, but Summerslam doesn't look like anything worth buying, or even YouTubing.

His match spotlist is thus: Armbar Armbar Punch Chinlock Chinlock Drop kick Distraction rKo I seriously doubt Hogan is going to lay down for Orton. Granted Hogan already jobbed to a couch but there's no way he'll put over anybody cleanly. Hogan could barely get into the ring yesterday and then couldn't get the big boot up on the Fake Hogan. Time to retire and keep media pimping your daughter, Hulk. The only thing I may Youtube is the Foley/Flair "I Quit" match. But then again, I'm thinking that WWE creative is going to be, well, creative in the booking.

LowerCaseRepublican
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) FWIW, I saw on a couple of the wrestling websites that Hogan has complete creative control during this agreement, so whatever happens he'll have to sign off Hogan has total creative control over his character so he gets to basically have a lot of meaningful input in any feud. And from what I've heard about the McMahon DVD, Vinny Mac wanted to push an incest angle where he was the father of Steph's baby. Luckily, Steph had taste and made a decision of "Hell no." Also, they're getting rid of Amish Roadkill and supposedly going to call him "Braddock" and dress him up in generic black tights. Alright, this is one of the last straws in killing off one of my favorite gimmicks, Vince. CHICKENS!

I have a hard time believing that any McMahon could find a level of disgust that they can't sink to.
Brian
Crossing my fingers that tonight was the last time we see Giant Khali in the ring. I'm kind of intrigued about how they are making Smackdown almost like the new OVW. Maybe in a year, these young guys will succeed and the show will be good. It's odd, no matter how uninterested I am in a Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and/or Survivor Series card, I always anticipate them. Shows the kid in me. I miss stealing the PPVs at my friends house with a black box when there were only 4 a year and WCW and WWF alternated months having a PPV. Purdue129
Gregory Platt was supposed to take my extra for ROH next weekend, but I haven't heard back from him in 2 weeks... so if anyone is interested in 2nd row next Saturday shoot me a PM. Danielson/Cabana 2 out of 3 for the ROH Title Strong/Aries vs. Daniels/Sydal for the World Tag Titles BJ Whitmer vs. Jimmy Jacobs (bound to be a huge spot) Samoa Joe vs. Claudio and just added... The Briscoes vs. Homicide/Davey Richards...which could steal the show plus Nigel, Delirous, Embassy, Irish Airborne and MORE! and last time I'll advertise $11 tickets on ROHWRESTLING.COM!!! In the Fieldhouse there's 7 or 8 reserved rows on each side of the ring, then general admission 'bleachers' on two sides of it. Chicago is usually one of their larger crowds. There were 900-1000 there in June.
LowerCaseRepublican
w00t! WWE is releasing a Brian Pillman DVD at the end of September. I hope they put his matches with Owen, Liger, Flair, etc. on there. This could be totally sweet. http://www.highspots.com/product.asp?id=15175 And also, check out the new Chris Masters in OVW. Cruiserweight champ, anyone? PS: the sombrero is a photoshop on there.
Brian
I heard about that Pillman DVD a few months ago. I remember chop fests with Flair on WCW Saturday Night.
