Gregory Helms out for a year with some sort of neck fusion surgery.

I'm gonna hope they bring him back as the Hurricane. That was one of the better gimmicks of the last few years, much better than his current gimmick of "man with leather vest."

That's unfortunate. He has come a long way since the "3 Count" days.

You're right, he is not big enough to pull off the tough guy heel image.

For me, it's not that he's not big enough. It's that he doesn't have a gimmick. Basically no singles wrestler has a good gimmick anymore.

The Hurricane gimmick was easily one of the best in recent years, and they dropped it to put a vest on Helms and make him cocky. Ooh, wow that's cool.

Scotty 2 Hotty, Spirit Squad Mikey, and ARIEL all released. I liked Ariel.

As did I, at least she had personality.

Probably pissed off Stephanie somehow though.

Well, this may help explain the recent releases:

I read that Stephy got a promotion and 30,000 stock options, 20,000 of which she can cash in immediately if she wants to. At $80 per share, that's basically a bonus of $1,600,000.

I don't know what she did to earn any of that, other than being a member of the Lucky Sperm Club, but they need to pay for that somehow, so why not release a bunch of people to line the kid's pockets?

per PW Insider

Sabu has had a long history of behavioral problems backstage in WWE which lead some observers to believe that he really did not enjoy working for the company. Prior to his firing Tuesday, he had in fact failed a wellness test and rather than being suspended he was punished by having to wrestle without pay and only put other people over.

There was also an incident at the airport en route to the ECW tapings where Sabu was detained by airport security after they checked his luggage. He was not very happy about them searching his luggage and caused a big scene at the airport, which delayed his arrival to the tapings by several hours.

When he finally arrived at the ECW tapings he was instructed that he would go out and put over Kevin Thorne. Sabu claimed he couldn’t do it due to a neck injury that had been bothering him over the weekend. This was the last straw for WWE and they made the decision to release him right there.

When friends of his asked him why he was behaving like this and acting like he wanted to be fired, he pretty much said that he didn’t want to be with the company anymore and had been unhappy for a while.

HBK is crazy to try and work on his blown out knee...but this is another hit for the E

Re-break it, please.

:D

I stand by "good". I find him entertaining, but I've never had that "can't-miss" feeling about his matches.

Watch it, or I will wish you well in future endeavors from Soxtalk!!!

HBK is the best in the history of the bussiness. FACT

Agreed. An HBK/Flair match with both guys in their prime would of been classic.

Danielson > HBK. FACT.

HBK in his prime, not now, was better than anyone else every will be. He carried guy after guy to great matches.

Let me know when Danielson works a match in front of more than a few thousand people that isn't a WWE jobber match.

Your winner and new US champion, MVP. Ballin'!

HBK in his prime was not better than Hart, Hennig, Piper, Jake Roberts, HTM, etc.

HBK in his prime was a good, not great -- a good in-ring talent but he doesn't hold a candle to matches like the SummerSlam Henning/Hart bout or th WM 12 submission match.

And just because the match takes place in a smaller arena, doesn't mean that the match is any less awesome. Punk v.s. Joe trilogy, etc.

HBK carried guys to great matches that I am not so sure other guys could have. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Jarrett, Sid Vicious, Taker, Vader, Jannetty, Bulldog.

I would never discredit the Hart/Hennig match and the WM 13 submission match, but those were also great wrestlers in those matches.

When you have less people see certain matches, you don't have enough people to judge it to say it was the greatest match ever. While I am sure ROH puts on some good matches, its hard to say they are the greatest because not as many people see them. I'd love to go to an ROH show in Chicago sometime but can't cuz I work Sat nights. Maybe if I saw some, I would agree.
