LowerCaseRepublican
QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) i am so sick of him. i wish khali woulda beat his @$$ Hey Cena, 80's Hogan called and he wants his gimmick back. Man, at least in the 80's, I could enjoy it because I was a little kid...and the adults could enjoy it because at least they had the wit and comedics of guys like Heenan to make the heels interesting and fun for the smarks. But supposedly the ladder match with the WGTT and Hardyz was something to see.
Brian
Actually watched the PPV tonight. Pretty decent. All the matches were good. McMahon/Lashley was what it was. LAshley fighting 3 guys before finally getting one on one with Vince. Cena/Khali was short so that was a good thing. Surprised to see RVD win as a swerve but Orton ended up getting the last word in and gave RVD a vicious DDT. I still don't see what the internet smarks hate Orton. They guy sells moves very well...oh wait, he uses a chin lock. Ladder Match had some screw ups but some high spots. Not one of the netter ladder matches. I can't speak for ALL of the Internet smarks , but I just find Orton really, really boring. His promos are dull, his matches are dull and his finisher is recycled (which would be forgivable if he didn't bore me to tears getting to the Diamond Cutter). To me, he's been every bit as "shoved down my throat" as Cena, and I just don't enjoy any aspect of his work. Other than that, he's great.... Brian
I guess if you want to call a guy who sells moves well, has great ring psychology, and is a natural arrogant heel, boring, than ok. Orton is a throwback. Remember when you didn't have to be good on the mic to be good. I guess all the "smarks" hate Benoit as well cuz he is boring on the mic as well. Benoit can outwrestle Orton with one hand tied behind his back. And I think Orton is slow, and doesnt sell moves well at all. Especially when he is jobbing. I can always tell when that guy is gonna lose, you can see it in the way he wrestles. He has the arrogant look down pat, i will give him that. But his wrestling and ring psychology need work, he needs to realize he isnt gonna win every time. Wrestling is different now, you need to be good on the mic to be success anymore

But the difference is, when guys were bad on the mic they gave them a manager/mouthpiece. Nowadays they give guys eye candy to walk to the ring with, and the eye candy usually can't speak well either. I like Benoit, although I think he could use a "move-set makeover". His matches have been pretty predictable for a while now. I wasn't commenting on Orton compared to other wrestlers, though - I just don't enjoy his work. Soxfest
Speaking of Benoit. Currently Chris Benoit is seemingly the only person that has been told of his fate in the upcoming WWE draft lottery. The current plan will see him changing brands from Smackdown to RAW during the 6/11 draft. Benoit is being moved to RAW due to what the company feels is a lack of main-event level depth on the brand. He's a cocky, arrogant heel that is in desperate need of a manager to be a mouthpiece for him. I just don't really like what Orton does in the ring, his finisher is so overused in wrestling and his ring work is bland -- and not in the Danielson "f*** you, this is how I wrestle with strategic holds working over a body part/submissions" way and even if he did, he doesn't have the charisma of the Danielsons. His ring work is like seeing a bearded lady -- we've seen it, now shave it. He needs to step up his game and show that he can work more than his formulaic work thus far. Soxfest
MVP The Florida Department of Corrections website has an inmate release information list and in the database is a profile on current WWE Star Montel Vontavious Porter. It has been noted before that MVP served 9½ years of an 18 year sentence in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping before he started his professional wrestling career. It was reported a few weeks ago that MVP's real name is Hassan Assad. That's not totally correct as it's actually an alias. His real name is actually Alvin Burke, Jr. The Wrestling Observer reports that MVP took the name Hassan Assad as a Muslim while in prison. He took on the religion while in prison, hence the name. However, he doesn't really talk about it anymore. One reason for his wrestling garb is because he has a Malcolm X tattoo and WWE wanted him to cover it up. Furthermore, the complete alias is actually Hassan Hamid Assad. The database also notes that he went under the alias Alvin Jr. Burke as well. longshot7
saw ONS - pretty happy with most of it. Loved the ladder match, steel cage was very good, tables match was solid, and the rest was okay to good. Hated the ending of the RVD/Orton match - if you're gonna build Orton, then freaking build him! Give him the win in a convincing way. This concussion storyline has run its course. Loved Edge & Batista's work in the steel cage, but I think we've used the cage enough recently. Let it rest for a while. Cena/Khali - well, the Judgment Day match was better. Maybe Benoit can turn heel and feud with Cena - we should get some MOTY candidates out of that. Lashley/Vince - snorefest. Why have I seen this exact match three ppv's in a row? Yuck! Love how Vengeance is the "Night of Champions". It should be renamed the "Night of Champions except for the Cruiserweight Title and the Smackdown Tag Titles" since no one in WWE ever wants those defended on PPV. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla next week - El Generico vs. Bryan Danielson. How happy am I? Also, am I right in assuming I'll be the only one on here to be watching Slammiversary? LowerCaseRepublican
This episode of Raw... Cena going to overcome the odds again - CHECK Vince dominating the show as the top heel that shows the show's lack of main event talent - CHECK Battle of the Conway popping tag teams - CHECK And there's talk that Khali is going to be Cena's opponent at Vengeance. He made him tap to the STFU. He pinned him clean in the gimmick match already. What is left in that feud? Cena won it! My kingdom for Lashley to get a monster heel push, a heel manager and give him a monster run against Cena. I know, the kind of thing has been done so I figure we just call him Choc Lesnar. Perhaps getting Brock and have Ebony and Ivory?
