Gene Honda Civic
No conspiracies... # Josh Fields called out on strikes. # On-field Delay. # Charlotte Knights third baseman Josh Fields ejected by HP umpire R. Thompson. Let's just hope he didn't throw a bat at him.

danman31
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Hard throwing righty Juan Moreno wins with 6.1 innings, 1 run (unearned,) 4 hits and 12 k's with 0 walks! Holy crap. Those numbers way above what he had been doing. He had 10 K, 6 BB in 16 IP before today. He's 19 and I'm going to guess was in the DSL last year. Finally one of our rookie ball pitchers catches my eye. Hopefully it wasn't a one-start wonder.
Heads22
OMGrosso! Seriously, an interview with FS sparks careers. Got Baj called up, anyways.
danman31
Carter with HR #7. It's so hard to imagine he could do so well in rookie ball and struggle so much in Kanny. Hopefully the Sox saw something he was doing wrong and fixed it during extended spring training.

I just hope he's not the next Schnurstein or Francisco Hernandez. I suspect he's not, given his size compared to those two, and he's producing more than them also. Without witnessing him first-hand, I'd say the Sox saw something in him, which is why they started him off at Kanny at 19. He only got 50 ABs, so it's not like the Kanny failure should weigh heavily on his future.

I remember looking up info on Carter after the draft and thinking he had potential. His numbers in Bristol were raw but the potential still looked to be there. He's done really well at Great Falls but he has a long way to go, we'll see. Micah did well in Arizona and then mediocre in Great Falls so he's a slightly different story. Carter's power numbers are through the roof, but he has more HRs than doubles which is slightly odd. I'm not a huge stat guy so I don't really know what that means but seems very odd for the minors.
