The Critic
Woke up at 6:30am (way too early for a Sunday), went grocery shopping, talked with my sister for a while, took care of my daughter, got a nap (slept through the Sox game, luckily), had some dinner and came to work. About to leave, I'll get home for about 4 hours' sleep before I have to take my daughter to the doctor (nothing serious) and then to day camp (see, told you it was nothing serious ). Drew
Went into work early because they were running a short floor for lunch rush and the staff needed relief. Had a rather uneventful night but made good tips, had a 14-top that accounted for half of my sales. Then I ate baked goods that would otherwise be thrown away as closers at my place of business are entitled to do, and I showed the newbie how to close the shop. I punched the clock and shot the s*** with the night manager, went home, popped open a PBR, cruised MySpace and Soxtalk while listening to Johnny Cash. Gregory Pratt
I really didn't do anything too notable today. I was tasked with giving a bath to a thousand pound cow, and I had to wrangle it by myself because nobody else was aroudn to help me get her to the fence. So I moved on over to Denim, hopped on her back, put the rope 'round her neck, got off and forced her to the fence. Took a few minutes but I did it. Afterward, we had a cowboy come over and teach us how to train a horse. He had her rolling over so he could pet her stomach in minutes. Travis was awesome, but not as cool as Travis Hafner! I'd been cruising on a crush for this girl lately, but after sending a mutual friend to gauge her feelings, and when I took everything into consideration, I decided I'm going to strike out looking instead of swinging. I've been striking out looking quite a bit lately, but I'm not bothered.

Gregory Pratt
Oh, I've been stretching myself out, too, to make sure I'm nice and loose for a day of soccer practice tomorrow. Right now, doing well at soccer might be the most important thing to me, as we're in the low-leverage part of summer. DBAHO
I played some golf for the 1st time in about 5 months today. Key thing I was working on today was to try and keep my right knee pretty much absolutely still, and I was striking the ball much better which was a good sign. Then off to Uni for my 1st lecture on International Finance and Investment. Fun times.

LowerCaseRepublican
Drove home to pick up my teaching certificate and some other paperwork I needed. Picked up some new books and worked on classroom management strategies. Watched ECW and kept working on classroom stuff. Today is lunch, ordering two copies of my transcripts so I can give them to the school I'm teaching at and ISBE, packing up and heading back to Chambana so I can keep working on posters etc. for my classroom. Soxy
Got up, took dog for walk, put in eye drops, realized dog stole eye drops, two hours of looking for eye drops, took dog for walk, went to school, put in eye drops, putzed around on the internet, watched clock fruitlessly. Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) gotta go out swinging man. At least for me, I would rather do that than have to wonder "what if" forever. Usually I agree with that, brother, but I'm in no rush right now. Part of it has to do with me having the taste of my ex-girlfriend in my mouth, and part of it has to do with the fact that I figured the girl I was interested in was more trouble than she was worth. --- I've got soccer today. First day, it's sort of like a mini volunteer training camp. I'm feeling good about it. In half an hour, I'll be getting my physical, and then two hours later, I'll be playing soccer. Unfortunately, I'm going to miss at least an hour of the Sox-Tigers game. Bah!

Gregory Pratt
I met two nymphomaniacs today. They, after brief conversation, requested that I join them in bed sometime, at the same time, "preferably soon." I declined politely, but was flattered. And grossed out. I declined because I was and am uncomfortable with anyone willing to give themselves up that freely, even if they consider themselves nymphos. Besides, the thought of getting an STD terrifies me, and "HEY LET'S HAVE SEX LOL!!" reeks of it. We had what the Coach is dubbing "Summer Camp" today. We did warmups, then drills with the ball, and finally, they lined up and took shots at me, The Goalkeeper. One of the first ones took a bad hop and hit me in the groin. I pretended that it didn't, no one noticed, and played through the pain. I wound up doing a very good job, although I came home very sweaty. I was happy, though, that I was blocking everything that came my way, and I had thirty kids firing off at me one after another with two seconds between each shot. Come on now people, altogether: "Gregory Pratt is a keeper!" I exerted dominance over one of the upstarts on our team, though. Michael and I -- the only two seniors -- know that last year, we had no discipline. Players didn't work together as teammates, and there was a lack of focus. We maintained discipline, and everyone was working fine. We're going to be the guiding force of the team, with me being the bad cop and Mike being the good one. A boy began mouthing off to me while they were taking shots. He told me, "Catch the ball, don't knock it down and then catch it!" and I said, "Shut the shoot up, kid, before I bust you down so fast that the Coach won't let you play anymore." (If this seems excessive, Hector and I've got a personal history, and he's a bit of a problem child, so all he understands is harshness, as he DID shut up.) (On anohter note, I'd been knocking them down, rather than catching them, because I wasn't wearing goalie gloves at the time, and thought it would be safer for my hands. Besides, I was knocking 'em down right in front of me and catching them instantly, so no harm, no foul.) Afterward, I sent Mike to tell him that about gloves, and that he had to defer to us Seniors. Hector got the message, loud and clear.

Balta1701
Woke up, showered, had coffee, read the LAT, ate breakfast, screwed around on PC, went out to catch bus, after several buses escorted Fiancee to yet another doctor's appointment, spent 2.5 hours sitting in a waiting room, read a Newsweek from March of 06, a Time from April of 05, went back outside, waited another hour for the bus to go back, 1.25 hour bus ride, came in to school at 3:30, began doing the work I should have been doing at 5:00 last night had the Fiancee not begged me to walk her home. We've spent like $1500 on these freaking doctors and today is the first time I think she actually saw one who knew what he was doing. Spent most of the day silently cursing the U.S. Health Care system in my head.

Drew
I was curious, so I did a quick Google to see if anything came up on the girl that rear-ended me in her 'Benz last Thursday night in Old Pasadena. This is her. You can find out more about her here. Just another day in the land of B-list celebrities and working-class hipsters who think they have a shot. Gregory Pratt
I've got a few pictures to share, from my cowriding. I'm leaning into her here, hugging her, because the cow began to move. Its neck jerked me forward and nearly knocked me off, so I gripped her. Angy hugged me too, after the picture was taken, though. I like this picture. I love this picture. Me smirking at someone off camera. Angy smiling -- and, so you know, Angy is JUST a friend. A good one. Me making sure that Angy doesn't fall off. You see, Angy had trouble getting on the cow, so I told her "Jump, and I'll boost you." I did. Man of my word! Me and Thelma cow.
