LVSoxFan
And? How about some play-by-play for those of us unable to listen?
Chisoxfn
Was anything interesting said in the interview? I'm looking forward to seeing how Brandon's arm is doing and whether the team has at all talked to him about rejoining the rotatoin. I really wouldn't be shocked if we made a semi blockbuster deal involving Vazuqez and someone else that would get the team a reliever or two and a centerfielder. KevHead0881
The only thing I found interesting was his comments on the daily happenings in the bullpen. Said that the youngest guy (either him, Logan or Montero) usually has to carry a bucket of candy out to the there. Jenks is the clown of the bullpen and McCarthy said the big guy does a lot of childish things out there (throwing candy, burning ants, making mud piles, etc.). Said it can get pretty boring and most of the guys usually drink a can of Red Bull before they warm up to get the adreneline going. McCarthy is always a good interview. DrunkBomber
Man, I can envision Jenks sitting on the ground playing with mud. He looks like a little kid. Minus his enormous stature of course. I wouldnt mind seeing us deal Vasquez and bringing bmac back into the rotation. Its not a step down by any means. Im also not concerned about getting burned by an injury if that happened because if it was urgebt we could go to a four man rotation down the stretch. We could really use help in the bullpen or in centerfield.

Maverick0984
why is everyone so worried about CF all of the sudden? wasn\'t it said Anderson was the guy already, and he hit great in June, finally coming out of his slump? and his defense is just spectacular, not sure why we would want to trade him or replace him. LVSoxFan
Agreed. I'm not seeing where center field is an issue for us. Speaking of the above, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the plan for 2006 originally that B-Mac was going to be our fifth starter? Or am I hallucinating? Jenksismyhero
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) Agreed. I'm not seeing where center field is an issue for us. Speaking of the above, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the plan for 2006 originally that B-Mac was going to be our fifth starter? Or am I hallucinating? I don't know that this was ever an official plan. Getting Vazquez, on paper, should have put this rotation into an elite status. But he suffers from that one terrible inning every game that jacks up his numbers. He should have at least 12 wins by now if he wouldn't lose focus. The talent is there and is proven by his K numbers. It's just a matter of him growing mentally, which after so many years in the bigs, i'm not sure if it will ever happen. McCarthy to me is the most exciting young player we have. After last years run against the BoSox and Rangers, shutting them out, I knew this kid would be a great future starter. Hopefully with all these trade rumors flying around today he'll get a shot.
DrunkBomber
Hopefully BA will improve offensively and centerfield wont be a probelm for us but his numbers first half were dismal. He did show some signs of improvement as of late but I dont want the rest of the lineup to have to pick up his slack offensively down the stretch. We also definately need some kind of bullpen help. He\'s picked it up tremendously, and while i don\'t have the exact numbers, i feel just as confident with him up there as some of our other hitters now. replacing him would be a HUGE mistake, and even talking about it is a slap in the face at his come back and the already various peopel saying that no trade would be made. greg775
burning ants Uh oh, better not let the national media get hold of this. Like you said, the animal cruelty people will be on fire. If this gets in the papers, look out. There will be protests at the Cell. Just kidding, but this is the world we live in now. Society for the protection of ants will be aghast.
