The ump wouldn't have even thought about calling it a strike for Thome. It'd have been an easy, easy strike.

Or maybe Widger should have framed it better? He caught that ball shifting inside, and brought the ball call because of it.

Especially since McCarthy is a fly ball pitcher. Thornton would have given us our best chance at a strike out. I don't like our chances in a game where Ozzie has to match wits with Torre.
