The Ginger Kid
Sorry it couldn't have gone on longer. But it was fun while it lasted - let's get another one going!
SoxAce
It really does suck to come home and hear news like this. What a run.
Dam8610
Had Thornton and Cotts pitched better, it would've had another chance to be extended. The Sox did just about all any team is going to do to Mo Rivera. Unfortunately it came up just short.

I wonder if that was a contributing factor.
Dam8610
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Win Streak Non-Losing Streak. Lossless Streak. Win/ND Streak. Non-Loss Streak. I prefer Undefeated Streak if you're going to pick on the "Win Streak" naming.

There we go, that's the perfect one and of course I left it out.
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) yeah... when the media started making a big deal about it his play started to decline... I wonder if that was a contributing factor. Probably not. In the games he got hit hard against Pittsburgh and Cinncinnati and Texas, especially, it was because his new arm angle was flattening his fastball and making it far easier to hit. He went back to dropping down, and he was fine against, starting against Baltimore. He pitched more than well enough to win against Boston and New York. Good job, Jose. Start a new one. THEWOOD
Good run of games, now he can concentrate on winning games and pitching better.
Rex Kickass
I listened to the game on WCBS AM last night (parts of it anyway) and they were falling all over themselves to talk about how "big league" Jose's pitching was. You'd have thought Randy Johnson was pitching for us the way they were just gushing how he got himself out of that jam in the fifth with the guy on 3rd and nobody out. kapkomet
What a difference a year makes. Wow. Jose.
gojimthome
If we're going to be asses and call it an undefeated streak, it's a lot longer than 17. What is it? 25? 26? Something like that?

The-Legend-Of-Pujols
He was third all time I believe in pitching streaks next to Roy something and Roger Clemens
elrockinMT
Weakness showed again last night and that's the set up guys in the bullpen. But maybe with 5 days rest they weren't sharp anyway the Sox tried to rally again for Jose and fell just short. I listened on XM staelitte and of course it was the Yanks broadcasters and they were just gushing about Jose and the Sox team, which I thought was pretty nice. Jose is a great pitcher and hoefully the pitching staff can start putting something together and pitch like last year. tealeafreaderii
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) Please don't tell me you're blaming the media for his poor pitching? not exactly... I'm saying the pressure of knowing that he has consecutive win streak going might have gotten into his head... the media (and all of us) probably added to the pressure I bet he wins the next 5 starts now that the streak isn't hanging over him like the Sword of Damocles... Kalapse
QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) If we're going to be asses and call it an undefeated streak, it's a lot longer than 17. What is it? 25? 26? Something like that? No, it would be 17. What exactly do you think this streak has been? The last time he lost a game was 17 starts ago, he's had a bunch of wins and no decisions since then but did not lose a game. That my friend is an undefeated streak not a win streak. But I guess I'm just an ass for wording it properly.
