I'm with you...he's slow and hittable. Getting consistently RIPPED.

Pitching like a Pony Leaguer.

Think the Cards still want him?

After his 3-10 start in 2003 I was a little worried. He came back to go 14-14 after that, I will never give up on MB.

Hell yes.

29 other teams would want a guy with a 4 ERA that never gets hurt and throws with his left hand.

it just looks like our starters are tired out there. i wouldn't mind trying a six man rotation for a little bit and see if that doesn't help any

I don't buy the tired excuse at all. Especially coming off of the all-star break. As I've said all year, with the money we have invested in these 5 guys, if they continue to underachieve, we don't deserve to make the playoffs.

You're right.

That's stupid. Make improvements no matter how much money we've got invested in the starters. Standing by while watching this mess is retarded.

I know you've been saying we need to add another starter. While I admire your passion about doing this, it's very unlikely.

So Ozzie can go to the bullpen in the 5th after it's already 4-0?

no, so the pressure gets off of the rotation a bit. after a couple months of a deeper pen, the overall pitching of the Sox would be a lot more dangerous.

We need someone to get a hit with RISP. Just a base hit please or a double in the gap.

Yet we choke again. Stop launching every pitch into the air.

A couple singles or double will work. Yet I forget we score the most on the dong in all of baseball. We live and die by the dong.

economically speaking, a sunk cost is unrecoverable

in other words, I couldn't disagree with fathom more

Trust me, I don't agree with what I said, but it's the reality of how baseball works. There's been way too much talk about how this is the greatest rotation in history. The whole Vazquez trade has really been a disaster so far.

True, but the sunk costs, AKA the rotation, might just have stretched JR's purse strings a little too tight on the operating budget for midseason trades.

Well, KW supposedly did call the Marlins about Willis so it sounds he sees the problem and isn't content with our overpriced crap.

Not if we ship Freddy and his mid 80s fastball out of here. That would clear up some money.

I think our bullpen is pretty deep right now. It's not their fault that Ozzie has absolutely no clue how to use guys like McCarthy or Cotts (both should be allowed to start innings and face 5 or 6 guys in a game). In the past few months, we've only lost a few games due to our bullpen. Now, our starting pitching has been a much different story.

Considering people in another thread were saying Garcia and Vazquez would be the best starters on the market, I think you're right. The only way the Sox improve the rotation is either their pitchers pitch better or they move McCarthy into it. The series in Detroit is going to be big for Detroit, huge for the Sox.
