Baines3
This pitching staff needs help big time. Not one of our starters is pitching like they are capable of doing.
Flash Tizzle
What Buehrle did today was absolutely embarrassing. Is this what we should expect from an alleged ace? Go ahead and defend him. Tell me how our defense let him down. What I witnessed was a soft tossing pitcher (whose even softer this year than last) failing miserably. Our "ace" sure as hell can't pitch against Boston or New York, two legitimate playoff contenders. I wouldn't blame New York (and by extension ESPN) for laughing at our VAUNTED pitching staff. They've seen nothing but bed wetting after bed wetting. Even Contreras was hardly fooling anyone yesterday, and he's without question our best pitcher. I'm very upset with what I witnessed this afternoon. And even beyond Buehrle it's the entire pitching staff. They're all failing to live up to the expectations set upon them. These last several Buehrle starts honestly makes you question whether he's worthy of a 60 million dollar contract. Eating innings alone doesn't justify the absolute filth I witnessed on the field. Since the Cubs game, I'm just tired of watching him. As clean as I can put it, he needs to MAN UP. I just hope Lumsden is available by 2008 so atleast an option remains if Buehrle thinks he's an 11+ million dollar pitcher. BigSqwert
But we still face Detroit 15 more times. We should win at least 14 of those. sarcasm>
beautox
QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) And this team is still 25 games over .500 with a far more inconsistent pitching staff. Hopefully these guys are healthy. If they are, they'll turn it around. i agree, we are 25 over and thats awesome, but pitching needs to grow some balls and man up, the offense can't carry them forever. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) How many times has this phrase been repeated on Soxtalk? 60-70 times? When will you people learn? im still not buying into "willis" is a trick pitcher speach, and his starts as of late are proving you wrong. but that aside you are a very well informed poster. Swingandalongonetoleft
Well, D-town couldn't do much against the East, and it's looking like we can't either. Watching these last 2 series have made me sad.
SoxAce
On the plus side, Brian Anderson has a six game hitting streak. He also is hitting .290 over the last ten games.. :) His average is also closer to .200 after today.. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) i guess kalapse was right all along Buehrle sure as hell don't look like an ace FWIW, Cheat said this two years ago when Buehrle was putting up those stellar numbers. I'll never forget it.

Gregory Pratt
It also aims at ridiculing those maniacs who call it an end to the season everytime a starter has a rough outing or a batter strikes out a couple of times in a game. (Which isn't to ridicule everyone, as those worrying about our starting pitching have a reason to worry.)
stretchstretch
go ahead and add another loss to today, how many friggin times did we have men in position and couldn't deliver a two run hit. Every SINGLE time Thome and Konerko come up with men on base, there's a 99% chance of a shallow popup or squibler to the infield. I cannot remeber the last homerun I've seen Paulie hit? August and September are going to have to be magic somehow and they better pray for Detroit to somehow collapse because clearly the WC is coming from the east
GreatScott82
1-5 vs Boston and New York?? Wow that makes us look good. If we cant beat the elite were in trouble. Im pretty damn tired of playing ketchup every game. When was the last time we had a lead going into the 9th?
