Sox may go after Acevedo

I'll take Acevedo, he saved over 20 games last year on the piss ass Tigers.

I think there are some players that just can't play for the Yankees. I'm sure its hard when you get jerked around a whole lot. Of course there are also guys that can only play for the Yanks; Check Shane Spencer, etc.

I do not mind going after Acevedo also.....not sure though if White goes or Glover goes

White has retired 11 of his last 12 batters....he might just be finally getting it.....he did very well last year too in the second half of the year

Glover has been a bigger disspointment in my mind then White. THis is soley because I have always thought very highly of Glover.

When he came up he had a lightining fastball and curve and that heater had incredible movement. Now I see very little movement on it and its nowhere near as hard.

I'm sure El Cheapo would love to spend money on some players (not saying he'd sign the right ones), but his hands are kind of tied. Afterall, he doesn't even have the 50 cent cd after signing Rivera to a waver claim ;)

You can never have to much pitch. Acevdo gets things back in gear and he could be a big acquisition. If he struggles he does no worse then White or Glover and you can cut him lose again.

Also if he pitches, you have a guy you could move in the future as well if necessary.

Speaking of Glover, when is the last time that guy has pitched?  Am I missing him in the boxscores everyday??

Right now if we are winning and the bullpen is called upon it is either Marte or Koch or Gordon.....

If we are losing even by more than 2 (which means we are done with our offense), Manuel goes with White or Glover

Wunsch only comes in for situational lefties

Sanders comes in whenever we are losing and the other two (Glover and White) are too tired or have us pitched before Sanders

In short, Manuel is so freaking scared of this bullpen, he only goes to 3 guys to win ... LOL :P

Why spend more money in an area we dont need to?

Rick white was a waste... Avecado will be too...

Munoz or Ginter are but a phone call away... and i'll bet 5 to 1 ginter will outpreform those two.

Would you rather have the 1982 Pinto with the rusted trunk or the 1981 Escort with the bald tires? Who cares? This is not what is going to put this team in the playoffs. There are 5 or 6 guys on a club that are virtually meaningless to the team's success. Now that I think of it, they are probably the best thing for KW to work on. Keeps him busy so he doesn't really screw something up.

Keep in mind that we did try to sign Acevedo during the off season, so I wouldn't be surprised if we put in a call to him to see what it would take to sign him.  Personally I think he has the best chance of landing either in St Louis, San Diego, or Texas.

I agree with you, SS. The Pads need him more then anyone with Hoffman, Witasik and Villafuerte still out. However I hate White, I think he is a cancer on the mound and will only get worse (I don't care if he has retired 8 of the last 9 batters), and Acevedo has killed us in the past.

Part of the reason the Sox think highly of Acevedo is how he pitched against them last year. He gave up no earned runs in 111/3 innings, allowing 11 hits and two walks.

Then again, how he has done against the Twins and other contenders I have no clue.

Pretty much he has decent numbers against everyone in the ALC except for the Indians.

I'll take Ginter, Munoz or Almonte over Rick White. Than maybe Juan Acevedo.

Please stop bringing up Munoz. I lost a bet before the season that he'd make the opening day roster because I'm such a big fan.

:fyou Mike!

And I am still waiting :cheers

Lol well if I keep up on my Blackjack tear I just might be heading home in the near future where I can treat you to a Sox game.
