Paul is in his pull monkey mode were he tries to pull every single pitch no matter were it is. Today they exploited that by throwing changeups and slow crap on the outside corner. Paulie was much ablidged to work out the SS on that or pop it up.

Line drive swings win ball games. Being a softball team that tries to jerk pitches over the fence no matter what the situation is reminds me of the 2001-2004 Offense we strolled in here time after time.

This is the thread where the focus should be for discussion IMO

We all know that our starting pitching giving up 5 runs in the first two innings is already a major problem that needs fixin, but today's boxscore is THE epitome of our problems of late, with 3-4-5 hitters being mostly responsible the lack of production . Everytime Konerko or Thome comeup in a situation where we really need a double, I have to guess if it's going to be a popup to the catcher, dribbler to short/second, or K, and Thome chasing the low outside pitch is a guaranteed whiff for the guy, somehow he's got to learn to layoff that pitch.

4 14 0

6 9 1

Great job by our club this series giving ESPN all the fuel they need to claim the central as inferior to the east for the remainder of the season.

Don't just make things up. It's bush league. I understand that it's fashionable and fun to ignore facts when posting, but you're going to get called out on it sometime. Go ahead and take a look at the box scores since the 4th of July. 3-4-5 have accounted for plenty of production. "Lack of production" my ass...Unless "Of late" means "today" in your world.

Thanks for the stats. However, that's still not "plenty of production" because aside from Dye's 9th inning homer against Boston, they are not bringing in key RBI's when desperately needed. Since the 4th, Konerko and Thome have had many many opportuntunities for a big single in a clutch situation that'll bring in 2+ runs, but a shallow popup, whiff, or groundout has been the result way too many times....maybe you can point to the stats that refute that? but I'm not the only one here citing 3-4-5 issues in the past couple weeks

We've done a great job so far this season at hitting with RISP.

Just hasn't been the case lately. I'm sure this is only an aberration and nothing to be horribly concerned about.

I'm not sure about that...WOAH! Did you feel that?!?! I think the sky is falling!

It's a bloodbath at third.

With 14 hits, we should get more than 4 one-run innings. I didn't see the game, but the box score looked ugly. 3 GIDPs. Lots of men left on by the 3-4-5 hitters. Freddy didn't help by letting the Yanks get 6 runs in the first 4 innings, which likely forced our guys to press.

Our lead over the Yanks is only 3 games. We better pick it up and play better fundamental baseball. The postseason is no certainty.

we needed to be SMARTER about situational hitting.

Mariano Rivera DID NOT HAVE HIS STUFF this weekend and the SOX hit him pretty good,

however, the guys a PRO and knew at least to locate his pitches, and got by by the skin of his teeth

The Baserunning has been horrid lately too. I was very nervous about our pitching, knowing that Minnesota has decided to make things tough in this division, and the Yankees were only 5 games behind us in the Loss Column and you knew they wanted to beat us BADLY (note: they are only 2 games behind us now)

The dumb giveaway losses are now coming back to haunt us. The SOX have to escape July and hope we dont fall to 7 or 8 games back heading into August, that month will be a killer and in fact, the SOX have the TOUGHEST schedule the rest of the way now and it was important that we had a LEAD in the standings.

Things dont favor us unfortuneately
