i thought we were looking for local bands that haven't made it...

or else wilco would obviously be mine. and rhymefest.

But then you have to define "made-it". All of mine would work then, aside from Cheap Trick. But even them I would still consider "local", with as much as they stay in Rockford and do free shows and small clubs all the time.

Over the years I have had a passing attraction to all these;

The Sisters of Mercy,

The Mekons,

The Wedding Present,

Utah Saints,

Chumbawamba, ( phabulous Live )

The Music and

The Mission.

( It is said that Goth was born in Leeds. )

And lately Kaiser Chiefs.

That list makes me proud to be a Loiner! (Someone from Leeds )

First And Last And Always is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. I can do without everything after that one, but that albums is brilliant. So much was lost when Hussey and Eldritch split from each other.

Some mate's are playing their first gig this weekend, I resurrected the name of a band I was in when I was much younger; Eddie Hernia and the Surgical Tweezers.

I hope they last longer than we did, if you can imagine a cross between The Cure and Pink Floyd, you'd be part way there. I was in the middle of my depression cycle at the time, lyrics along the lines of, " I hung myself with the telephone cord, because you were never in." and "Cough me up , go on and cough me up, I am the hairball to your love."............................Happy times.

THAT...IS...AWESOME!!! I love the 80's depression-rock. Some of the most ridiculous lines ever, and yet, they touched my very soul.

Local Austin Bands: Milton Mapes, Black Lipstick, What Made Milwaukee Famous.

 Ah, memories of 4th grade. My friends and I were all obsessed with that song of theirs.

4th grade for me too, my friend even bought the album...with all the anarchy references...not quite as dancy as the single.

Only in England could you throw a drink over the Deputy Priminister on a live TV show and get away with it.
