klaus kinski
He's hitting with no one on, leading of innings-one of few that is hitting-(we have come full circle)
BigSqwert
Bat him 1st. Rob plays LF and we trade Pods for a reliever.
Kalapse
I'd rather leave him in the 9 hole where he's kicking ass rather than move him around in the lineup possibly screwing with his hot streak.
Balta1701
The only person he'd be moving past would be Uribe. Wait and see if he gets his power stroke going first, and wait until he does this for more than a few weeks, and then maybe we'll consider it. Jordan4life_2007
What exactly would moving Anderson up in the lineup accomplish? The guy is raking right now. Don't mess with him.
RockRaines
He is going to dial up some power here in the next fews weeks. Then we shall see.
elrockinMT
It is amusing how we now are considering BA's bat to be leadoff caliber. He is doing much better though for sure.
Misplaced_Sox
He's been making real solid contact for a while now... unlike alot of our hitters At least he seems to have a plan... gotta give him that
Greg Hibbard
I don't move him up, just like I wouldn't have moved Crede up at any time. Building confidence and building a routine are very important, and moving a player up and down in the order can really mess with consistency, not to mention confidence. If Brian can get up to .230-.240, I'd give him an A+ for the season.
DBAHO
Who'd have thought we'd actually have this discussion about 2 months back?
henry wiggins
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Who'd have thought we'd actually have this discussion about 2 months back? Two months back the talk was about moving him into the Charlotte Knights lineup.
DBAHO
QUOTE(holly wiggins @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Two months back the talk was about moving him into the Charlotte Knights lineup. Yeah, there were 2 schools of thought there. Personally I always thought you leave him in there until he produces which he has done. Very hard for a rookie hitter to just come straight in and produce (unless you're Jeff Francouer).
DonkeyKongerko
I agree, don't mess with something good. There's nothing wrong with a little speed and OBP in the 9-hole. This certainly has to give the organization some optimism at the future of the CF spot. As for left field... well lets just say left field sucks. Sox Machine
He should bat in front of Widger when he's in the lineup -- but here's hoping that won't be an issue much longer.
Jake
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Bat him 1st. Rob plays LF and we trade Pods for a reliever. Now that I think of it, I wouldn't mind moving Pods right away. But don't play Rob there, bring up Sweeney and see if he can help spark something. But don't play Rob there, bring up Sweeney and see if he can help spark something. No offense to Ryan...but I don't want to see him in the big leagues until the end of the 2007 season. Stay in AAA, practice, and try to develop some more power, yes. Don't start his arbitration clock too early, don't rush things, don't scare the 21 year old into changing his swing. The goal should be to try to have him ready as a possible replacement for Dye at the end of 07, IMO.

I can definitely agree with your point of view on this, but then part of me wants to know what he can do right now. Something about the way he hammers the spiff out of some major league pitching in ST makes me tempted to think what he can possibly do in the majors. And I'd hope he can just be a gap hitter with power potential, as opposed to trying to be a home run hitter. As far as replacing Dye goes, you also have to ask the question of who will replace Pods next year? Fields? Rogo? Ryan? Owens? Mack? Someone outside the organization?
