Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Dude!
rowand's rowdies
gregory, i sure hope you are not questionign that quote..if you are you have not seen one of the greatest movies of all time. 5.5 games back sucks, but we will be fine if we start playing good baseball. if not, i dont want us in the playoffs. sorry. we have beaten the tigs 6 of 9 times so far. here is how it breaks down - we play like we can and beat the tiggers 7 of 10 times (5 of 6 at home and 2 of 4 at comerica), we only have to gain 1.5 in the other games. beat them 6 of 10 (very likely), we have to gain 3.5 in other games. play real well and beat them 8 of 10 times, we are .5 games up. only win 5 of the 10, we dont deserve a chance, but we still can gain 5.5 in other games. like PJ said in Angels in the Outfield, "Hey, it can happen." Chisoxfn
QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 07:17 AM) One things for sure ............... is the SOX playoff hopes arent in their hands anymore. Now were stuck hoping other teams can help us out. We are the wild card leaders. The Tigers could win every game from here on out and it wouldn't matter, as long as the Sox went out and played up to there capabilities because if they do that they'd be the wild card team. If we were behind a few teams, than you may need a little help, but with this many games left, every single team thats relatively close can control its own destiny (maybe not for sure) but if they go out and play some ridiculous level of baseball they'll find a way. Take the Twins...they got a 9 game stretch that will say a lot about them. @ Cle and Chi and than at home vs the Tigers. During that stretch they could make this a 3 team race for the division (if they go like 8-1) or they could bow out (if they did horrible) or it could stay similar to how it is now. Balance
Of course the lead is surmountable. But the White Sox need to improve their game, and dramatically, before that can happen. I don't see the Tigers falling off in any significant way.

BigSqwert
Wrong movie? Was it Animal House? I'm getting old. The mind is deteriorating. EDIT: Yeah it was Animal House. How could I forget? Even if he hasn't seen the movie, how is it possible to not get the reference? It's a major part of American Pop culture.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) It's a major part of American Pop culture. Yes, but not everyone here is. I, for example, had no idea that Jay-Z was the name of a famous musician until yesterday. I still wouldn't know his music if he was playing right in front of me. SoxFan76
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Avoiding rap music. And country. Country is pretty good. The thing is, not much of it is even "country" anymore. It's pop/rock with a southern "twang".
LVSoxFan
I thought you'd at least know him from his being Beyonce's man. Oh well. As far as rap goes, he's one of the all-time greats, but rap is sucking right now.

DBAHO
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) No. Just get there. That's all I care about. My thoughts exactly. I don't care how you get there, because it's what you do once you get there that makes all of the difference. So if we end up with a wild card spot, I'll be happy we made the playoffs, and then we can see what happens from there.
