fathom
THIS TEAM NEEDS OFFENSE!! Please don't say you think the pitching staff will revert back to their norm, and then say you think the offense will keep up their first half performance. Frankensteiner
One other point about Vazquez: if the Nats don't want him, they could always flip him to a contender for a prospect, which is something KW seems unwilling to do (i.e. trade Vazquez for just a prospect). Anyway, my point is, he should be considered a trade asset. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's some 3 team deals involving the Sox either. nitetrain8601
I may be wrong, but I thought the Sox weren't paying Vaz's complete deal. In fact, I thought it was only around 6 or 7 mil they were paying. Surely, the Nats would take that on, especially if they could find a taker for Soriano and/or Livan. When the Yankees traded Vazquez to Arizona, they also were paying part of his contract for his reamining years. Then when we traded for him, we got the money the Yankees were paying, plus some for this year. Also, little known fact, since Vazquez requested a trade, he would remain under the new team control for the next three years. He was signed through 07, but he is available for arbitration in 08. Dick Allen
The White Sox don't get the Yankees money for Vazquez. That goes to Arizona who does pay a small portion of Vazquez's deal for this year and next. The Sox are still on the hook for a total of aboug $10 million a year for him I believe. The year of control the White Sox gained by Vazquez's trade request is an arbitration year, something unless there is dramatic improvement , the Sox will want no part of.
