The Ginger Kid
QUOTE(loltrain @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Verlander's next start will now be against you guys... great. like he really needs the rest. he's already my pick for the cy young award. then again...maybe the lay off will backfire. El Barto
QUOTE(loltrain @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Verlander's next start will be skipped to rest him/keep his innings down. Wilfredo Ledezma will take his place for that turn in the rotation. Verlander's next start will now be against you guys... Pretty smart. Rest the young guy while there is a big lead and keep him fresh for the playoffs. IIRC, didn't he have a two week layoff at the all star break as well? loltrain
Yeah he had a break at the ASB. Also, in a rather suprising development, part of Miller's contract is that he will be called up to the majors in September.

rangercal
Verlander to miss start with tired arm Justin Verlander will miss his start on Sunday because of fatigue in his right arm. It is getting to be that time of year. Verlander, the league's first 14-game winner, has already thrown five more innings (135 1/3) than he did in 2005. He belives the current problem is nothing he can't pitch through. Still, the Tigers will skip him one turn, something they could do a couple of more times before the regular season is over. Wilfredo Ledezma will start in his place on Sunday. Aug. 4 - 6:58 pm et It starts
tigerfan
Tigers pull ahead on a 2 run shot by Monroe in the 8th. 7-6. He had just missed one the pitch before too, hooking it foul.

Balta1701
Detroit Pitching has an ERA of 4.90 since the All Star Break. If the White Sox didn't have an ERA of 5.70 since the break, you guys would be in real trouble. And if you hold that the rest of the season, the kitties will be in real trouble by September, because we will not be that bad in August.

Jake
Detroit Starters ERA Post-ASB - Nate Robertson - 5.88 Jeremy Bonderman - 4.56 Justin Verlander - 1.82 Kenny Rogers - 10.34 Zach Miner - 7.36 Combined - 5.64 Combined w/o Verlander - 6.70 White Sox Starters Post-ASB ERA's - Contreras - 4.18 Garland - 3.42 Buehrle - 8.86 Garcia - 4.73 Vazquez - 7.79 Combined - 5.49 This looks pretty good for the Sox considering our guys have been looking better as of late. We don't need stats to know our offense is better than theirs. So here is our glimmer of hope. (These #'s do include today's games.) Bonderman38
WIthout that odd inning in Minnesota Bonderman's would not be that high.. ANyhow, I am not worried. Take Rogers out and it is near the Sox's.
