Yes

ATLEAST I AM NOT A DOLPH

DOLPHINS FAN :fight

Jackie, not many ever catch it when you make a joke, do they? :P

What I will say is that while ARod isn't coming here this season, the thought of him in the Sox lineup would intrigue me and probably Kenny Williams in the offseason, when more such moves are made. Does that help a little Kalapse?

You must apologize. NOW

There's no way I would trade Crede for Arod. I mean, Crede is younger, better defensively, way better in the clutch, and would cost us about 15 mil/yr. less. So, basically, all Arod has on Crede are basic offensive #s. I think I'll take Joe.

A-Rod plays the more premium position. He's also only 2 years older. Crede's having a career season at a time where he's likely to sign a contract extension (meaning, the right time to have a career season). And saying A-Rod's only advantage over Crede is basic offensive numbers is sort of like saying Jim Thome's only advantage over Scott Spiezio is basic offensive numbers.

Meh, you could have atleast put together a projected lineup with him included. You're just not putting much effort into it. And since when did Bills fans earn the right to talk smack? Talk about a loser organization. ;)

Fields, Pods and Uribe for A-Rod

Lance Broadway, Alex Woodson (heh) and Robert Valido for Carl Crawford

Do it KW!

I dont think the yanks would want Uribe, considering they already have Jeter. And in no way would they trade A-Rod right now with Sheffield and Matsui out, UNLESS they got a premium 3rd baseman in return. Which is probably unlikely. Therefore i dont see him getting traded at all.

I don't think it's the same thing, though. Is ARod a big-time leader in the clubhouse? I'm not saying Crede is, but I don't think ARod gives you anything extra in the clubhouse than Crede does. Plus, Crede already knows the guys on the team, has been playing with them for a few years now, and is well-liked. Who's to say the players would like ARod on the team? Team Chemistry/Moral is very vital at this time of year, and it's not good to mess things up. And don't tell me, "we've been playing bad, so why does chemistry matter?" It does. Just imagine how much worse we'd be playing if the guys didn't like each other. I am 100% confident that this little slump of ours will pass, but that's b/c these guys know how to win and win with each other. If they weren't so close, I'd be less optimistic about our chances at a turn around. Hell, on a side note, in comparison to most every other team, this losing streak of ours isn't really even that bad.

So, what exactly, besides offensive #'s and popularity, does ARod bring to the team? An extra $15 mil/yr (assuming Crede gets a deal worth about 10 mil/yr when it's time for that to happen), worse defense, and poor clutch hitting. Oh, and ARod is more like 3 years older than Crede. ARod will be 31 in 4 days, whereas Crede won't be 29 until a month into next season.

Anyway, this team was built on pitching and defense, not offense. It's what wins championships, and regardless of what others think, having the pitching and defense we do, when the weather cools in October, will be a big help.

Not that I think we will... but if we trade for A-Rod in the off-season id hope it wasnt for Crede. Hell... the yankees only gave up soriano and a single a prospect.. and that was with A-Rod being the best player in the AL easily and arguably the best player in the majors..... Now all the yanks would have to do is include the Rangers money but the difference is now A-Rod is arguably the biggest head-case in the majors and is getting booed out of his park.

Id think something along the lines of Uribe, maybe Garcia, and a low prospect if that would be more than enough.

I wish you were the Yankee GM.

This thread has gone from dreaming about acquiring Alex Rodriguez for Scott Podsednik and Juan Uribe to arguing that Alex Rodriguez for Joe Crede would favor the Yankees.

And it all spouted from an interview excert where Kenny basically said "sorry kids no trades this year - but enjoy this Sandy Alomar I found in the alley."

That is one hell of a thread.

Bravo!

Garcia is exactly the type of pitcher that the Yankees could use right now.

Everyone is always looking for a pitcher making 10 million with a sudden drop in velocity, and whose ERA is 5.00....I can see the attraction.

Back on topic, having listened to the interview, Bruce Levine said something stupid about Kenny coming back on the air after having aquired three different players (I forget who they even were) and Kenny sarcastically answered, "no it will be bigger than that", Levine didn't get the joke and said wow who could be bigger than that? Then he mentioned Soriano, but KW had already hung up the phone. Remember because of tampering KW can't comment on a specific player anyways, so this rumor should have been a non-starter just by common sense.

Now if you all will follow along with me at home, you will see the most obvious intent with this rumor is that Kenny is trying to get Detroit to overpay for a few months of Soriano. I really don't think we have much interest in the guy, as I don't think we are interested in bringing him in as a rental.

We know that Washington want some major pitching prospects for Soriano, because the Nats system is just absolutely bare of that right now.

If KW forces Detroit to have to give up the likes of Humberto Sanchez, Zach Miner and Jair Jurrjens, well then he's done his job.

Looks like Seattle really wants him as well though, although they are apparently offering a deal built around Adam Jones the CF, who will be a good one, but he is struggling in the majors right now ALA the early 2006 version of Brian Anderson.

I would bet money that is what Kenny is trying to do to Detroit. They are already on record as saying they are going to do something big, so they are stuck behind the 8 ball.

He was possibly being sarcastic since landing Soriano would be a tall order. Probably just joking around because of all the unreal trade expectations.

As to Soriano specifically, Kenny said nothing. Like I said I listened to the whole thing, and he was reacting to a stupid comment Levine made as Kenny was hanging up the phone. I have no doubt Kenny is working on a big deal, but I would be willing to bet that Soriano comes no where near Chicago and in fact lands in Detroit.

Thanks 2k5, I didn't hear the interview so I was just making a guess based on the way people have been reporting what he said.

I think KW was being sarcastic and just screwing around with his comments the other day. IF ARod is available, he would be an awesome addition to any team.

trading arod would be one of the all time worst moves in baseball.

I think the Yankees would be stupid to trade him, and I also don't buy the reason a lot of "experts" think the Yankees have to trade him.......because its chic to boo him and he'll never be able to turn around the boos. Didn't Giambi turn around the boos fairly quickly? All he needs is a hot week or 2 that you know is just around the corner, and he'll be back. I do think he would be an even better player outside of NY, but the guy was the MVP last year.
