Or a prelude to a blockbuster. If this is the end of a deal someone should request KDub pee in a cup.

This is true. He may be acquiring Soriano so he can place him in Seattle or somewhere out of the Central Division, and get some other pieces back. I think KW would be out of his mind picking up Soriano for 2 months at the price of McCarthy.

It's funny...both ESPN and CBS Sportsline are saying he's close to being on the Sox, yet CNNSI.com says Bowden's asking price is to high (Lance Broadway and Josh Fields) and that he's a longshot to end up in Chicago. . ::Sigh:: Who to believe? I want to believe SI.com.

So if this is a prelude to a bigger the trade, perhaps we might deal him off to other teams looking at him such as the Mets, Yanks, Angels. All of those teams have some solid spects. Then I would take a wild guess one of our pitchers is thrown in with him and we would get some bullpen help and a starter or two. But im just throwin out ideas right now.

Guys if we are going for Soriano and giving up Bmac and our top prospects, then guess what we are not spinning him off. Why would we give up our best prospects unless their best prospects are soo much better.

We are not spinning him for Arod either. This is for the dagger. Our best in baseball Offense becomes absolutely sick then.

If its just Pods and BMac I can accept it. If Anderson is included as well then hes lost me and I might run out on the field naked at the game tonight.

Bring a Cubs hat. :lolhitting

Just thinking for a second, if the Sox are getting a reliever back in the deal with Washington, I think you have seen the end of Freddy Garcia or Javy Vazquez in Chicago. It means Brandon slides into the rotation with McDougal taking his place in the pen as a set up man from the right side. This could be interesting.

i dont like trading pitching, but that would a one hell of an offensive jugernut.

Im gonna miss Bmac. I like that kid, hes a good player.

I have thought BMac was overrated all year long.

But we need his cheap arm.

I sure hope Kenny has something going on to reacquire some young mlb-ready pitching.

I hate this time of the year--and love it. I get so excited about stuff like this and it never comes true. Hopefully, Kurkijan is right. But not for Fields and Broadway.

Fields and Broadway is a small price to pay. just not BMAC please.

Mike... I do think Brandon would be right in the middle of the deal.

Sure would be helpful to have that BMac.Com set up right now..

Does anyone actually think that Williams would be stupid enough to ship out McCarthy in this?

For those of you suggesting that Soriano is a long-term leadoff hitter, take a look at his career OBP again. It's .325. It's around .360 this year, but how often would you pitch to him in that lineup?

If it's McCarthy for Soriano, I won't be happy at all. If it's for other prospects and Pods, I can live with it. I don't want to see him leading off for the next 5 years or so though (assuming we try to re-sign him). As for MacDougal, he's a project with a great arm, but Lumsden is a fairly high price for a guy with little proven success and injury issues.

I hope KW realizes that the offense is one of the best in the MLB. We are much more desperate to get an arm in the rotation (BMAC) and deal one of our older overpriced pieces (Vaz). Shipping BMAC for soriano would be a very bad plan for KW, and I do not think he will do it.

Bizarre trade ideas, actually. Give up on McCarthy for a two month rental of Soriano? Further weaken your minor league pitching depth for a guy who was never that great when healthy. (A Royals pitcher? -- isn't that an oxymoron?) Can't see how you can flip Soriano, because only the Tigers, Yanks, Angels, and Twins seem interested, and they aren't trading with us.

I don't think Kurjian just blows smoke. He's a reporter, not a rumor creator.

Then there should be a window to sign a long term deal then with Soriano. Soriano is a hell of a player and is young, and can play at a high level for a long time. But Bmac for a 2 month rental is a bit high. Prospects I could care less about, bmac actually showed that he could play in the majors.

Soriano is worth about 36 runs more than Pods on the year.

But if our pitching doesn't come through, it won't matter how good our offense is.
