3 BeWareTheNewSox 5
Any good long relievers on bad teams or teams that are underachieving. I'd really like to get BMac into the rotation. With the moves made, I think doing this will make the team very complete

Chisoxfn
Mac will be the long guy (although I'm not much of a Riske fan, especially as of late) unless Kenny gets blown away in a deal or one of our starters gets hurt. Next year Mac will join the rotation.
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Mac will be the long guy (although I'm not much of a Riske fan, especially as of late) unless Kenny gets blown away in a deal or one of our starters gets hurt. Next year Mac will join the rotation. With MacDougal in the mix, we can use Riske in the 6th and 7th inning more. He seems to do better there. I really like our 'pen now. It could end up being better than last year's.
spiderman
The White Sox don't need a long man. McCarthy and Riske are both capable of going multiple innings, and McCarthy has shown he can go 2+ on occasion.
witesoxfan
Heath Phillips. It's not as fun, but it's better than giving up more friggin prospects.

Sure McCarthy's capable of doing that, but Ozzie won't let him unless the games in extras.

Yeah, McCarthy could do it too, but I'd prefer he ended up in the rotation
NorthSideSox72
On my list of worries for the Sox, long relief falls somewhere around #22.
aboz56
Any good long man would be a starter. Duh.
fathom
With Ozzie's style of managing, a long reliever is pointless. He's not the type of manager to pull a starting pitcher in the 5th or 6th inning. We've added a lot of depth to our bullpen lately, and unless McCarthy is moved into the rotation, there's no reason to add a long man.
