santo=dorf
Remember all that talk about the production the Indians were getting from that first base platoon? Now both Eduardo Perez and Broussard have been traded to the M's.

DBAHO
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Which essentially means VMart's days as a catcher are numbered/over. They can either go two ways with this. Promote Ryan Garko to take over at 1st base, or let Kelly Shoppach be the everyday C and let Martinez start at 1B. I think they're going to go for the former, but the latter sounds like a better idea to me, providing that Shoppach could actually hit well enough to be an everyday catcher. I think they're going to go for the former, but the latter sounds like a better idea to me, providing that Shoppach could actually hit well enough to be an everyday catcher. I just checked, and Garko's only hitting about .250 in AAA this year, with an OPS of .774. He may be on his way in the upwards direction, but just based on the full season numbers I'm not so sure he's earned a promotion. He hit .303 with an .882 OPS at AAA last year. WhiteSoxfan1986
Man, Choo is a decent prospect but I thought Cleveland might be able to get a little bit more. How many more years does Broussard have on his contract? It will be interesting to see who the PTBNL is.
Punch and Judy Garland
Choo is really really good but I thought he has a 2 year military service to complete after this year which would certainly hurt his prospect status. I recall him homering in a Futures Game as well
knightni
The Indians needed to open a spot at 1b for V. Martinez.
Punch and Judy Garland
it's tought though because we don't know if Shoppach can play every day and hit and also, Vic Martinez is suddenly a normal hitting first baseman whereas he was the first or second best hitting catcher.
