LVSoxFan
No kidding. What are we even doing IN the power rankings at all right now? Yeesh.
Tannerfan
I'm surprised ESPN is being so nice to us..
Chisoxfn
We shouldn't even be there. Its great to have talent, but when you can't win more than a game every turn in the rotation you don't deserve to be in the top 10.
Jake
They are with me in the feeling that you have to put some stock in the 57 wins before the all-star break, and that ring almost everyone in the dugout wears.
LVSoxFan
Before the ASB. Man, that seems like six months ago.
iamshack
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) We shouldn't even be there. Its great to have talent, but when you can't win more than a game every turn in the rotation you don't deserve to be in the top 10. Don't Fret! Jon is pitching again tomorrow! S720
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Before the ASB. Man, that seems like six months ago. At this point in time, Power Ranking should be oblivious to our Sox team. Let's get back our sterling starter pitching, then we'll talk! Colorado Sox Fan
Oh no! This has ruined my day. I eagerly await those rankings from the most informed source of sports news on the planet.
LVSoxFan
I'm more worried about our "smallball" ranking, because lately that has been dismal. But no longer, people! Time to fry the birds and get back on track...
southsideirish71
We could be ranked 30th for all I care. As long as we start winning games, and we get into the playoffs some how. These polls are subjective bullspiff at best.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) Don't Fret! Jon is pitching again tomorrow! I don't want to get it to that point again. I think it would be huge for Freddy to go out and have another quality start and get this team its first non Garland win since the Break, than let Jon give us our first winning streak of the break
Jake
Gotta get on a streak of one. They just have to think of it like getting on a streak of one every single day. Then all 1000 statisticians at SoxTalk can put all the 1 streaks together and talk about the winning streaks. SoxFan76
Power Rankings aren't based off the season, it's based on their recent performance. With that said, how in the heck are they ranked 6?
Jake
QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Power Rankings aren't based off the season, it's based on their recent performance. With that said, how in the heck are they ranked 6? I would say it's a mixture of the two, with the most emphasis placed on recent performance. But you also can't lose 20 spots or even 10 in one week as so many seem to be calling for. It's not a fair analysis.
Shamrock4Life
"Josh Beckett tops the majors in most home runs allowed (28), and is also sporting an ugly 6.17 ERA in 12 road starts." and he is supposed to be a top pitcher in the AL. He sounds like the anti-Garcia. But the power ranking have to do with how a team is playing and how it is capable of playing. but i still think that in this present moment the white sox are overrated. DABearSoX
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) Don't Fret! Jon is pitching again tomorrow! I acctually chuckled a little when I read that.....its funny because its true
Jake
QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) but i still think that in this present moment the white sox are overrated. Since the Sox are the Sox, they want to be in a position where if we go on a tear this week they don't look like reactionary idiots. We at SoxTalk don't care if we look that way.
