Milkman delivers
QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Just because of this thread, Javy will go 8+ today just to give soxtalk a big middle finger. We'll see about that one. I guess stranger things have happened.
GoRowand33
well I guess I was right about the bullpen having problems today Cotts allows all inherited runners to score and Jenks gets the loss so it might have been good to get the win saturday (which is what you want to do), but we suffer a tough loss possibly as a result

shoota
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:47 AM) The Sox won the series, which is what they wanted to do. Even if you have the bullpen totally rested for Vazquez and lose yesterday because of it, the very best you would be able to do is take 2 of 3. That is now the worst-case scenerio. Ozzie's no wizard when handling his bullpen, but he did the right thing yesterday, and got the all important win. Excellent analysis. I agree with that philosophy. elrockinMT
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) well I guess I was right about the bullpen having problems today Cotts allows all inherited runners to score and Jenks gets the loss so it might have been good to get the win saturday (which is what you want to do), but we suffer a tough loss possibly as a result I think the point that we are missing here is how poorly the bullpen did both Saturday and Sunday. They almost blew the game Saturday and did on Sunday. It doesn't matter about how many relief pitchers you use it is if their effective or not and our guys haven't been. Cotts sucked and Jenks blew it. The starters weren't any better. That's really what this is all boiling down to... the offense comes through most of time and our pitching sucks most of the time. Jenks has has more bad outings than good since the 19 inning game where he gave up 2 runs on the 11th and the offense came back to save him. We are 90 some games into the season and the pitchers just ain't cutting it. We can't keep saying how they will eventually turn it around no matter how hard we want to believe it. We need to see some improvement and consistency in pitching good games now. Edited July 31, 2006 by elrockinMT
greg775
I don't think Saturday had anything to do with Sunday. Our bullpen hasn't exactly been consistently good.
Hangar18
The whole series was freaking UGLY. UGLY UGLY UGLY. Yeah, was nice to see that comeback friday nite, very cool, the kind of game that starts winning streaks. Saturdays game was like watching some bad NL teams play, yechhhhh. I didnt want the bullpen to get involved because I KNEW we wouldnt get a good start out of Javy Sunday. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) I don't think Saturday had anything to do with Sunday. Our bullpen hasn't exactly been consistently good. Going into the Series, you knew unfortuneately that you were going to lose on Sunday no matter what with Vazquez pitching, so your already down 0-1. Winning Friday nites game the way we did put us in line to win Saturdays and at least be guaranteed to win the series. Saturday was ugly, way too many hits given up........and Ozz had to use the bp because the other guys couldnt get anyone out, but we took 2 of 3. Bad thing is we continued to lose ground ..... zygoat
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) Ozzie had no choice, the bullpen looked awful today...I really hope that Javy can go out and pick our team up and give us a great start...hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile... bullpen did look awful, but when does our bullpen look good??? Cotts and politte have sucked this year and the new guys are holding us there. Bmac has pitched inconsisent and i feel like their is no experience or motivation to pitch good.
